Rathfern is a rich, vibrant and diverse community that develops its moral purpose through our core values. We believe that all of our pupils can become effective learners and achieve highly. We have pioneered the development of ‘learning about learning’ (metacognition) across the school and are passionate about all our children’s learning and achievement.
We are committed to providing precise support and challenges so that all of our pupils achieve at least national expectations, and beyond. We are an aspirational and inspirational school, committed to working with all our parents and carers to ensure the well-being and highest achievement of all our pupils.
At Rathfern, we’re passionate about our pioneering approach to learning.Through our innovative development of learning attributes pupils are encouraged and empowered to challenge, reflect, explore and communicate their thinking in a range of creative ways.
Our curriculum is underpinned by the framework of concepts and skills identified in the Global learning programme and Rights respecting schools programme. These concepts and skills are explored and developed through the themes that make up the curriculum. As well as teaching knowledge and skills, our curriculum is a vehicle for the development of morality, citizenship and a readiness for the world of employment.
All parents have a legal responsibility to make sure that their child attends school every day. If your child is going to be absent from school please contact us on the first day of their absence. This is important, as we will contact parents if a child is not at school and no reason has been given.
Regular attendance and punctuality is fundamental to enable children to achieve the highest levels of attainment. We ensure that all children are aware of the importance of attendance and punctuality.Learning begins promptly with instructions and explanations and it is vital that children do not miss this part of the day. We monitor lateness and send letters to parents whose children regularly arrive at school late.

Was a first year student back in 1972. Loved it then I'm sure it's just as good now.
