Rio International School

RIS student citizenship represent over 30 countries. RIS faculty and staff come from over 10 countries. School curriculum and teaching methods seek to utilize the best practices from around the world in order to educate globally-minded and internationally competent students.

RIS is an open-enrollment school accepting students and families from all religious beliefs. However, RIS is a Christian school which educates students from a Biblical worldview and emphasizes Christian values and character. Students attend Bible classes and chapels which allow them to develop their Biblical cognition.

The primary focus at RIS is to educate a diverse set of students according to their needs and the school's expected student outcomes. This is accomplished through challenging coursework, rigorous examinations, and consistent teaching methodology.

Family events are a big deal at RIS. We have the Family Fun Fest, which is an open day for the RIS community to celebrate our families. Kids help with the decoration, parents donate goods from their businesses for a raffle, we all get together, eat and have fun. The International Fair celebrates our diversity — each class chooses a country to make presentations telling us what they’ve learned, we eat food from all those different countries and watch them perform the cultural dances from each country. The Christmas Celebration is a musical theatrical presentation prepared with our music teacher to tell the story of Christmas and celebrate the Advent. We also have the Easter Program, to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, in which the kids themselves perform the story.
