As we celebrate more than six decades of tradition at Riviera, we are reminded of the significant role that our school has played in our community and in the lives of the students, families, and faculty members that we have touched. We are proud to have contributed so greatly to our students, promoting academic excellence and instilling in them a sense of self-worth and independence. We have stood the test of time by remaining true to our mission and values and by striving for excellence in every facet of our institution.

For years, we worked diligently to expand into the high school grade levels, and in the fall of 2011, we were able to celebrate our 60th anniversary by unveiling a new state-of-the-art Preparatory School campus to serve students in grades six through twelve. The Prep School campus features approximately 110,000 square feet of facilities on almost fourteen acres and provides a unique and stimulating environment unparalleled in the area. All of our students in preschool through twelfth grade benefit from the true commitment and dedication we have provided to our students since 1950, as we continue to meet the challenges of the 21st century while maintaining our strong record of educational achievement.

With an emphasis on small classes and a carefully selected and well-trained staff, we challenge each student to develop his or her full capabilities. Gifted students are guided through advanced levels, just as slower learners are helped to succeed and overcome challenges. Through a multi-modal and multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning, students capitalize on their strengths from preschool through high school. While Riviera encourages cooperation among students, we recognize each person as an individual and support individualized thinking.

Our diverse student body represents a varied cultural and socioeconomic cross section of our surrounding community. Riviera is fortunate to have students of different national origins, many of whom are multilingual. With this exposure to our multicultural society, our students gain a more global perspective and broader insight into the world around them. This heterogeneous environment also sensitizes students to individual differences and creates an increased tolerance for others.

Our faculty and administration are dedicated to providing a structured, challenging, friendly, and supportive environment for learning and expect all students to be productive and dedicated members of the student body. We provide numerous opportunities for each student to become actively involved academically, socially, and athletically, and we encourage students to take full advantage of these opportunities.

We believe that a strong foundation in education provides students with the groundwork necessary for achievement in their future endeavors. Students at Riviera grow to demonstrate flexibility, initiative, social and cross-cultural skills, productivity, accountability, leadership, and responsibility. Small classes, close student-teacher relationships, parental involvement, a broad-based curriculum, a variety of curricular enhancements and extracurricular activities, and a talented faculty and administration all combine to make Riviera a unique and exciting school community.

With a strong emphasis on academics, Riviera appropriately challenges the students at each level. We offer a range of academic coursework including advanced programs, yet we have resources to provide individualized attention and work through areas of weakness. We are committed to helping children develop into well-rounded individuals, and while academics are a major focus, academic pursuits must be balanced with the many other facets of child development if we are to meet our ultimate goal of guiding children to grow into secure and confident individuals.

Whether it is aimed at 3 year olds or high school students, Riviera Schools' curriculum is designed to meet and exceed all Florida state and national standards guidelines. Our curriculum is both challenging and exciting. It is continually modified to reflect advances in curriculum development and to better promote scholastic achievement for our students. We integrate various teaching methods into a traditional, broad-based curriculum with a multi-modal approach and focus not only on fundamentals but also on higher level thinking skills.

Riviera students are able to participate in a varied set of programs and activities to help make their school experience more rewarding and more personal. We encourage our students to become active members of our school community and allow them to explore their own areas of interest. In doing so, they build school spirit while developing skills and having fun.
