For more than 100 years, Rockhurst High School has been a place where boys become young men, with minds, bodies and souls prepared for the challenges of college and life beyond.

Rockhurst challenges students with a rigorous academic program in the classical Jesuit tradition. Today, that tradition continues through a comprehensive study of the liberal arts and a strong commitment to the Jesuit mission of service to the church and community. Here, we strive to develop “men for others,” men distinguished by their competence, conscience and compassion.

Built upon our tradition founded in 1910 at Rockhurst, the education we provide our young men in Kansas City has a clear vision and mission. We are here to serve our students growth for their eternal purpose and we expect to shape them to be leaders for the world. This clarity reflects our traditions in both intellectual, academic excellence and our shared call to develop “men for others” – students who see their achievements in leading as successful only when it serves the common good, with a special eye for those most in need.

As we continue to celebrate tremendous accomplishments of our students in this mission, we also work hard to make sure that the education we provide reflects both the traditional humanities based Jesuit education that is our tradition, while also adapting the the circumstances of time and place in our curriculum which allow our students to be successful.

Since 1914 Rockhurst has been educating young men in the Jesuit tradition. We are part of the even longer history of Jesuit education, one that began in 1548. Though much has changed since that first day of school, over 100 years ago, our adherence to the Jesuit values has not changed. The men and women of our faculty and staff work along with the Jesuits to assist our students in discovering and developing their gifts and talents for the good of the community. Through an outstanding academic program and a vast array of co- curricular activities, we strive to form young men to be “men for others”. Rockhurst is truly an excellent school.

The rigorous college preparatory curriculum is designed to challenge even the best student and bring out the best in every graduate. It requires mastering a broad course of studies, but also forming good study habits, stimulating critical thinking and developing the writing, speaking and visual skills necessary for the challenges of today’s world — and tomorrow’s.

As Kansas City’s Jesuit high school, Rockhurst nurtures excellence in our students, in both the mind and the heart. Service to others, participatory learning, and the development of Christian leaders guides every aspect of the school's curricular and co-curricular activities.
