Sacramento Country Day is an independent, coeducational school providing a dynamic, holistic, and academically challenging environment for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade.

We inspire intellectual discovery and engage a diverse community to think critically, live creatively, and act compassionately, each and every day. We encourage our students to develop the full range of their capabilities – intellectual, physical, creative, social, and moral – and we cultivate the habits and skills that will enable them to lead fulfilling lives.

Country Day inspires intellectual discovery and engages a diverse community to think critically, live creatively, and act compassionately. Country Day’s Core Values We challenge students to pursue academic and personal excellence as they develop and embrace their passion for learning. Our students thrive in a dynamic college preparatory program that fuels curiosity, instills confidence, and builds resilience.

Our inclusive community promotes equity and understanding through meaningful conversation that welcomes a variety of voices and celebrates individuality. Our students grapple with complex issues, engage with conflicting points of view, make connections, and collaborate. We empower students with the skills to thrive in an evolving world.

Our students explore, improvise, and take risks as they discover and fully express themselves as individuals. We nurture empathy, integrity, and responsibility in a safe and supportive community that values kindness, respect, and civic engagement.

Sacramento Country Day School admits students without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin, and affords them all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate against any student in any way as legally defined in state and federal laws for co-educational schools in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs.

Sacramento Country Day is a very special place. As a school we combine the qualities of community – knowing, loving, and appreciating each and every student for his or her unique gifts - while also providing the finest educational experience in the Sacramento region.

Country Day students achieve the highest test scores, receive numerous awards, and 100% of our graduates matriculate to top colleges and universities across the state and nation. However, it is not just these accomplishments that define what it means to be a Country Day student; being a student at Country Day means being part of a diverse, inclusive and supportive community.

Whether in our Lower School, Middle School and High School, one of the hallmarks of the Country Day advantage is that our students know they can count on a community where all members feel appreciated, respected, and safe. And, because our students learn how to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others, the impacts of a Country Day education extend far beyond the school’s doors.

From student government to theatrical productions, from musical groups to athletic teams, the opportunities to join, volunteer, participate, and play are plentiful. Throughout the grades, students choose from a variety of clubs and extra-curricular activities to explore and develop talents and interests outside the academic walls.

Distinctive to the PK-12th grade student body is the friendly and collegial interaction between different grades for social and, in some cases, academic reasons.

Lower School students visit Middle School classrooms to practice presentations, buddy systems between Lower School classes are in place for holiday celebrations, and High School students escort young students to the gym for sports rallies.

The mission of the Country Day athletic program is to foster the growth of well-rounded, confident young adults in an age-appropriate manner. Country Day has a no-cut policy for 5th grade to junior varsity teams to encourage all students to participate in athletics. Some varsity sports, at the discretion of the coach, will hold tryouts to select appropriate players.

The athletic program, starting in grade 5, offers student-athletes the opportunity to explore competitive sports in a safe way. Trained coaches, most of whom played at the collegiate level in their respective sports, emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity and self-discipline, and they commend individual effort and commitment.

Country Day offers the most comprehensive athletic program in our division of the Sac-Joaquin Section. In most years, the school organizes close to 40 teams in 14 different sports, and usually almost 80% of high school and middle school students participate in athletics. Student athletes develop skills in leadership, teamwork, goal setting, mental toughness, sportsmanship, and confidence. Many of our recent graduates play college athletics at colleges and universities throughout the country.

Country Day is also known for supporting students in exploring new interests, and athletics is an important part of this tradition. College-bound athletes not only compete in their strongest sport, they have the ability to play on other teams, as well as participate in the many co-curricular activities offered by Country Day. We encourage all of our athletes not to limit themselves to the “one sport” mentality that is prevalent in high school athletics at other schools.
