Saint Francis International School was founded in 1985 by Mrs Diane Proietti. St. Francis is located in the north of Rome. Our school is a special place, and we are energized by the opportunity of partnering with parents to educate our children.

Four beliefs guide our work. We believe in the intellectual, emotional, physical, creative, social, and developmental needs and unique abilities of each child. We believe in helping each child develop self-confidence, self-respect, and self-reliance as essential ingredients for learning. We believe in developing students’ respect and responsibility for their natural, social, and educational environment. We believe students who have a meaningful connection to diverse nationalities will help create a world in which cooperation, tolerance and kindness prevail.

St. Francis is composed of a caring group of teachers and support staff. We strive to create an environment where students feel safe, comfortable, and respected.

In order to encourage a life-long love of learning, places a strong emphasis on providing a challenging and engaging curriculum, which is carefully designed to form a continuum.

The School aims to provide a sound education in respect of the values of tolerance, solidarity, trust, and integrity, in a safe, and positive environment. Here each child can attain his or her full potential academically, physically, emotionally, and socially within a small caring atmosphere. Children are encoraged to be responsible, caring, aware, and proud. Politeness, courtesy, and good behavior are of the utmost importance.

We are committed to providing a challenging educational environment that encourages high performance in a nurturing atmosphere characterized by dignity and respect for the diverse religions and cultures.

We believe in the uniqueness of each child and the importance of the early years in developing the child’s positive sef-image, establishing language skills, and ecouraging creativity. We are certain that children learn by being involved in the learning process and by exploring the world around them with teachers who are sensitive to their needs.

This Philosophy reflects the belief that the process of learning is as important as the end product. The curriculum focuses not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on the development of thinking and problem solving.

We provide a blended American and International curriculum to our students who represent a wide range of nationalities. We also offer a pathway through which children can complete the Italian State exams at the end of Grades 5 and 8. Our school is one-form entry, allowing staff, children and parents to get to know–and support–each other closely.
