1. Norwegian Quota Scholarship Scheme

The Norwegian government offers this scholarship to all international students from developing African, European (East), Latin American, and Asian (Central) countries. Graduate and postgraduate students may apply to this scholarship. Undergraduate students who take up certain specified degrees are also eligible to apply. Successful applicants are granted financial aid that is considered 40% grant and 60% loan. The loan will be waived once the scholar successfully returns to his home country after the completion of his studies in Norway. Usually, applications for the quota scholarship scheme close by December.

2. UiT Marie Sklodowska Curie Individual Fellowship for International Students in Norway

This is a fellowship program available for postgraduate international students in Norway. All nationalities are welcome to apply for a grant to be able to study in the Arctic University of Norway, provided that they meet the primary criteria of the program: proven experience in research and English language proficiency (for non-native English speakers). Applications for this fellowship program close in February.

3. International Summer School Scholarships at University of Oslo

This type of scholarship is for international students who wish to attend undergraduate and graduate summer classes in the University of Oslo in Norway. Eligible applicants are citizens from Asia, Africa, Central and South America, Oceania, former Soviet Union states, EU/EEA countries, US, and Canada. If successful, you will get financial aid to cover tuition fees, textbooks, and transportation for the summer, as well as flight tickets to and from Oslo. The university accepts applications until February 1st. The International Summer School (ISS) begins in June.

4.High North Fellowship Program

Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the High North Fellowship Program is dedicated to international students from Canada, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and the US. Undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students may apply. This scholarship is aimed at enhancing Norway’s relationship with the above-mentioned countries. Once successful, scholars would get a monthly stipend and a travel grant of approximately NOK 20,000 ($2,387) per month.

5. Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund

This is a program for Norwegian citizens as well as international students in Norway. While this may not be an entire scholarship grant, it can definitely help with expenses for studying in the country. If you are eligible for the program, you will be offered a loan and a grant, depending on your financial capability. After a specified time, you will repay the loan.
