Czech Republic School Holidays (2026)

School holidays in the Czech Republic are regulated by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic. These holidays include autumn, Christmas, spring, Easter, and summer. All the dates for the school holidays are similar except for spring break which differs based on regions as shown below.

  • Region 1: Karviná, Praha 1 – 5, Prostějov, Brno – město, Louny, Brno – venkov, Tachov, Břeclav,
    Vyškov, Domažlice, Znojmo, Hodonín.
  • Region 2: Prague 6 – 10, Nymburk, Děčín, Frýdek – Místek Jindřichův Hradec, Sokolov, Cheb, Karlovy Vary, Litoměřice, Přerov.
  • Region 3: Teplice, Plzeň – jih, Plzeň – město, Kroměříž, Vsetín, Praha – východ, Mělník, Uherské Hradiště, Plzeň – sever, Nový Jičín, Zlín, Praha – západ, Hradec Králové.
  • Region 4: Náchod, Kutná Hora, Kladno, Kolín, Třebíč, Jihlava, Semily, Jablonec nad Nisou, Česká Lípa, Liberec, Havlíčkův Brod, Pelhřimov, Žďár nad Sázavou, Písek, Bruntál.
  • Region 5: Mladá Boleslav, Opava, Jeseník, Příbram, Olomouc, Tábor, Ústí nad Labem, Jičín, Most, Prachatice, Šumperk, Strakonice, Chomutov, Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
  • Region 6: Ostrava – město, Ústí nad Orlicí, Benešov, Chrudim, Beroun, Rokycany, Český Krumlov, Trutnov, Svitavy, Pardubice, České Budějovice.

Restoration Day of the Independence Czech Republic
This day is observed on January 1st in commemoration of the split of former Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Good Friday
Good Friday is a Christian holiday that remembers the crucifixion of Jesus and is observed on the Friday before Easter.

Easter Monday
This is an official holiday celebrated in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus.

Labor Day
Also known as May Day, Labor Day is observed on May 1st in commemoration of the achievements of the labor movement.

Liberation Day
Liberation Day, also referred to as Victory in Europe Day or VE Day, is an annual holiday observed on May 8th in commemoration of the day when the World War II allies officially accepted an unconditional surrender by the armed forces of Germany.

St. Cyril and Methodius Day
This day is observed on July 5th in celebration of the Slavic missionaries Cyril and Methodius.

Jan Hus Day
Jan Hus Day is a public holiday that is observed on July 6th in celebration of the martyrdom of Jan Hus.

St. Wenceslas Day
St. Wenceslas day is observed on September 28th in celebration of the patron saint of Bohemia and his death in 1935.

Foundation of the Independent Czechoslovak State
This day marks the formation of Czechoslovakia in 1918 and is observed annually on October 28th.

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is observed on December 24th, the day before Christmas.

Christmas Day
Christmas Day is observed on December 25th and marks the birth of Jesus.

St. Stephen’s Day
This day, also known as Boxing day or the Second Christmas Day, is observed on December 26th to celebrate the Feast of St. Stephen in Western Christianity.
