School holidays in Norway vary from region to region. Generally, the school year begins in mid-August and ends in mid-June. Usually, there are five holidays which include autumn, Christmas, winter, Easter, and summer break. These dates are set by the Ministry of Education & Research.
At a glance, most regions in Norway have a break at the beginning of October, followed by a Christmas break before Christmas Eve that ends during the first week of January. Later in February, Norwegian schools close for one week for the winter break which is followed by the Easter break, and lastly the summer break, which begins a few days before midsummer. Below is a list of dates within which school holidays in Norway should be expected to fall with slight differences.
