Sharjah School Holidays (2026)

Sharjah’s school calendar consists of 185 school days (with exams). School holidays in Sharjah also include other public holidays observed in the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah).

As a general rule, all private schools in Sharjah must inform parents about the tentative public holidays in the UAE, once they are declared by the government.

What are the other holidays in Sharjah?

Leilat al-Miraj (The Prophet’s Ascension)
This marks Prophet Muhammad’s Night Journey, when he ascended to the heavens and traveled to Jerusalem in one night.

Ramadan
Ramadan is the month of fasting for Muslims. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.

Eid al Fitr
Eid Al Fitr is known as the End of Ramadan or Breaking of the Fast. It is marked with festivities and celebrations in the UAE.

Arafat (Hajj) Day
This holiday marks the second day of ‘hajj’ or pilgrimage.

Eid al Adha
Also known as the Greater Eid, Eid Al Adha is the Feast of the Sacrifice. It commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Isaac, in the name of God

Mouloud (The Prophet’s Birthday)
Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is also a public holiday in the UAE.

Commemoration Day – November 30th
Commemoration Day or UAE Martyr’s Day commemorates the fallen soldiers of the UAE, who died while in service to the nation.

National Day – December 2nd
The UAE National Day is celebrated every December 2nd, and commemorates the union between the seven emirates that comprise the UAE.
