The Senior Software Engineer is a fully participating member of an agile feature team who works independently on software development and problem resolution. The role involves technical design, software development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions/products that support the Emirates Group Business.
In this role you will:
- Work with senior technical engineers in the technical design process by contributing to analysing technical application requirements.
- Convert technical solutions for small to medium-sized initiatives into low-level design and working code.
- Independently write secure and optimized code by implementing Emirates Group approved coding standards.
- Participate in rotational on-call support and actively participate in resolving production issues within SLAs with minimal or no active supervision.
- Responsible for built-in quality and ensuring 100% unit testing as part of the CI/CD pipeline.
- Analyse and fix all identified defects with minimal rework.
- Ensure re-factoring practices are adequately adopted to ensure minimum code debt.
- Ensure logging and monitoring hooks are implemented in the code development.
- Continuously stay current with the relevant technologies and implement the learnings to enhance code quality.
- Adhere to the Emirates Group IT coding standards, guidelines, and best practices and contribute to Software Engineering Playbooks and other Standards documents.
Qualification
To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Backend Application Development, primarily in Java (versions 8+) with microservices capability.
- Back End Technologies: Java8+, Spring, Spring Boot, Restful API, SOAP, Microservices, Design Patterns, Design approach such as API First, Agentic AI Framework, Caching tools and techniques viz-a-viz Redis, Couchbase, etc.
- Web Technologies: React.js / Next.js / Node.js.
- Database Technologies: Relational databases: Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server, Postgres; NoSQL databases: Couchbase, MongoDB, Elastic Search, GraphQL.
- Cloud Technologies: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud.
- DevOps: GitLab, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence, Spinnaker, and such CD experience.
- Build: Maven, Ant, Gradle.
- Automation Testing: Jasmine, Jest, Karma, Junit, Mockito, Jmock, Jmeter, Selenium
- Quality: SonarQube.
- Security: ShiftLeft, Sentinel tools.
- Integration: Informatica, Snaplogic, Solace, APIGee, and Kong, such as API management solutions and API platform handling; Application Performance Monitoring: AppDynamics.
- Low Code / No Code exposure, such as Power Agent Copilot Studio etc.,
- Prompt Engineering, Context, and Agentic AI Engineering.
- Experience in developing advanced/Complex technology Software solutions for large organisations with API API-first methodology.
- Experience in providing production support for business solutions using the ITIL framework, including but not limited to monitoring, self-healing, usage of observability tools.
- Deep experience in full-stack development capabilities, technology technical evaluation, vendor selection, and management.
- Implementation of contemporary engineering practices like lean software and test-driven development, CI/CD for ensuring a robust and reliable code base is always maintained, and managing technology platforms for DevOps, Code Management/Testing.
- Experience in developing code using advanced agentic AI practices.
