SCIE means Students in a Challenging International Environment – our environment is indeed challenging for our students as we prepare them for some of the most famous universities around the world. The curriculum is challenging as our students learn in English each of their subjects, achieving up to the highest levels and obtaining true mastery of the language, rather than merely enough to pass a test.students learn Social responsibility, Creativity, Independence and Enthusiasm. All of these are important for our students from understanding the importance of their own culture and place in society, how to take responsibility for themselves and becoming independent so that they are prepared to take up a university place in their future and to study independently. Our students develop creativity, learning how to think critically for themselves, to understand what they are learning and to apply that learning in the real world.
It is always a pleasure to see the enthusiasm our students have, not just for their study of the academic subjects but also for their outside interests. Our students also learn how to take on responsibility for participating and organizing from the many clubs in our extra-curricular activities, through to our annual events and performances. Many actively take part in our House Competition, competing for their assigned house against other students and learning leadership in our prefect and student leadership programme.

SCIE is a member school of the Council of International School (CIS). CIS is a global non-profit membership organization. Its core services are International School Accreditation, Educational Recruitment and Leadership Search for schools, and Higher Education Services that facilitate linkages between schools and colleges and universities. This recognition signifies that the school has completed a comprehensive self-study and international peer review as part of a continuous improvement process focusing on standards and indicators that promote the development of student knowledge, skills, attributes and actions aligned with the CIS Definition of Global Citizenship. CIS International Accreditation is recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools (USA), and by many government and non-government agencies around the world.
SCIE is a registered member school of Universities and Colleges Admission Service.
All SCIE graduates enjoy the same rights and privileges of UK Sixth Form graduates in application to all institutions of higher education in the UK as well as more than 160 other countries and districts around the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, the EU, and Hong Kong, etc. SCIE university and Career Center provides all necessary services to our seniors during their university applications.
Distant learning and online lessons were brought to students via various methods. It turned out that Students’ previous experience utilizing online resources played an important role in making the teaching quality progress faster than expectancy. SCIE held Online Mock exams to give feedback to teachers and students before face-to-face lessons.
On 11th May 2020, after no increasing cases in 28 continuous days, the Education Bureau gave the clearance of returning to the campus. SCIE operated under heavy restrictions, including suspending all extra-curricular activities and trips and following a reduced timetable.
Due to the cancellation of the international examination, SCIE held internal exams to collect students’ portfolios for their final grades. In the winter of 2020, the CAIE series of international exams resumed in China.
