The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is one of Singapore’s six national universities and its mission is to provide lifelong education that equips learners to serve society. The University provides an applied education that targets both fresh school leavers and adult learners, with a focus on the social sciences.

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) offers government-funded, full-time direct honours programme for school leavers. A full-time degree can normally be completed in 4 years although the maximum period of candidature is 6 years. If you want to complete your degree in a shorter time, you can do so by taking more courses each semester or by taking additional evening classes with part-time students. You will also have the flexibility to switch to a part-time mode or transfer to a part-time programme should you find early job emplacement.

The full-time programme curriculum focuses on professional competence and job-readiness, social consciousness and awareness, and self-directed and life-long learning. It also provides flexibility in alternating, or blending, full-time and part-time study and work. For instance, there are opportunities for fresh school leavers to learn alongside working professionals enrolled at SUSS. Such interaction enriches your learning experience, helps you develop a deeper understanding of work issues, and forms professional and personal networks. Further flexibility comes in the form of e-learning resources that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, such as interactive i-study guides, recorded lectures, course materials, and online discussion forums and assessments. These elements are designed to enhance your learning. In addition, the work attachment enables you to relate your learning to work more directly.

The University offers part-time undergraduate programmes at a basic degree level as well as programmes that lead to a direct honours degree. The academic year comprises 2 semesters, January to June and July to December. If you read the maximum permitted study load every semester, you can complete a basic undergraduate degree programme in 3 years, or an honours degree in 4 years. You may choose to take up to 8 years to complete the degree.

Each course has an assigned value of credit units (cu). Students are required to complete a total of 130 cu to graduate with a basic degree; a total of 170 cu to graduate with honours, all inclusive of 10 cu of University Core (UCore) courses. On the average, our students read 15 cu of courses per semester. All students admitted into part-time undergraduate programmes must complete 10 cu of UCore courses in order to graduate, except for students reading Chinese and Tamil programmes. Our graduate programmes take in students on an annual basis. The duration for completion is generally 12 months for the graduate diploma, and 24 months for the Master's programmes.Courses are delivered in seminar workshop mode combining lectures, case studies, presentations and/or project exercises. Upon graduation, you will receive the Graduate Diploma and/or Master's degree conferred by Singapore University of Social Sciences.

Depending on the discipline, the continuous assessment component may include written assignments such as dissertations, case study analyses, essays as well as laboratory reports and research projects completed either individually or in groups. Some programmes require active student participation in practical hands-on experience training organised as laboratory sessions, mini-project discussion groups or weekend schools. In some dissertation or project-based courses, the continuous assessment component could comprise progress reports or project proposals which will form the basis of your final report or dissertation. This final report or dissertation is part of the examinable component for such courses.

Many (not all) lecturers encountered are only part-time or associate lecturers and are not committed to help the students. Facilities are also not helpful and sufficient to meet students’ needs.

Unhelpful and inflexible students' support team, courses are NOT really for working adults with young kids in family. Instructors do not help much as well. Highly NOT recommended!

I dont understand why SUSS does not allow the quizzes results to be shown after completing it. Keeping it a secret keeps the students unable to know what questions they got wrong. It creates the problem of dont know what we dont know, instead of knowing what we dont know so at least the students would have a chance to go and learn what they missed out.

It's quite a place to hang out with plenty of food including Starbucks and a good mix of international staff and students. They have full them classes and part time classes for professionals, Managers, Executives and Techs (PMET). Good library, complete with nice lecture Theatres. ATM cash machine include DBS, UOB and OCBC. Need an instant photo, there is a photo booth with the ATM. Stamps and bills to pay? Buy from the SAM machine and use the AXS machine. Wow.

Service is bad, especially when u're in SIM-GE. Encountered an issue with my timetable once, and the service help counter could not even help me at all. Asked me to email in to ask for help, but the email kept telling me the deadline for changing timetable was over. Email personel also refused to help me whatsoever even though I had a extenuating reason regarding the timetable issue. Overall a very bad service experience
