At Smithycroft, we are committed to ensuring the best possible education for all young people in our care. Our Vision statement - We Belong, We Learn, We Achieve – is at the heart of all our work. It recognises the value we place on community and the aspiration we have not just for young people but for our families and everyone who we work with.

We are committed to ensuring that every young person achieves the highest standard possible in all areas of their curriculum, leaving them as open minded, resilient, lifelong learners ready to make their contribution to the world. Whatever the barrier, we’ll remove it. We are rightly proud of the diverse community we serve. We are committed to ensuring that young people can learn in an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome and respected.

In Smithycroft Secondary School we will provide a welcoming and friendly environment, which celebrates the diversity of our community. We aim to ensure that all pupils are successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors and prepared to take their place in society. This is achieved through working together with young people, their families and the community, based on a shared sense of direction.

The school is located in Smithycroft Road which runs parallel to Cumbernauld Road, It is close to Junction 12 of the M8 motorway. In August 2002 the school moved into a new building erected on what had been its playing fields to the east of the original ‘round’ school which was built in 1967. The building consists of a classroom block, a “practical” block where the art, home economics, music, science and technical rooms are located and a wing housing a games hall and two gymnasia.

We recognise that the move from primary to secondary is a very important event for young people. We have a close and effective partnership with each of our 6 partner primary schools (Avenue End, Carntyne, Cranhill, Royston (transition period as Royston is now linked to Springbrun Academy), Sunnyside and Wallacewell. This ensures that the move from primary to secondary is as smooth as possible for young people.

We welcome families from outwith our area. Families living outwith the school catchment area are welcome to make a placing request to attend Smithycroft Secondary. Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school and should contact the school office to arrange this.
