Space is the future.
Agree or not, we are going. With a total market size of 300 Billion USD, the UAE Space Industry will have several job opportunities open for our youth.
The non-stop acceleration of the global space industry, in recent years, has resulted in a great deal of growth of space technology, in turn, leading to an eruption of commercial space businesses. A market report by Bryce Space Tech indicates the satellite industry to be $271 Bn for the year 2019. With a CAGR of 21% for the small satellite industry, we can extrapolate that the market size would reach at least $600 Bn by 2030. This is important to note because the space industry will continuously require a feed of employees from a STEM background.
One example of commercial space businesses is the satellite industry. For the past few years, one of the major satellite missions is the launch of the Starlink constellation. SpaceX’s one-of-a-kind, never-before-seen satellite internet constellation. Orbiting in Low Earth Orbit, at a distance of 550km above Earth, the constellation will consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites working in combination with ground transceivers, designed to provide high-speed internet access across the globe. Soon, sim cards will no longer be in sight!
Similarly, the UAE is swiftly catching up in the speedy space race. After the successful launch of the Hope Probe, UAE has very recently launched yet another satellite, this time to monitor the Greenhouse Gas concentrations above the country. The CubeSat satellite, called MeznSat, is manufactured in partnership with Khalifa University and the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. It aims to enhance space research and education in the youth of the country to allow for curious and brilliant minds to lead us in the ever-growing future of the space sector!
In spirit of World Space Week 2020, with the theme of ‘Satellites Improve Life’, we at Frontier Learning Solutions and in partnership with the UAE Space Agency, are offering a FREE Space Challenge to educate our young scientists about the mathematics needed to launch satellites into Space, as well as the science behind their orbital motion. We aim to bring to light the importance of satellites in our everyday lives!
