St. Ignatius College Preparatory is more than merely a high school. It is a community of lifelong learners that supports students as they develop into thriving adults. With a commitment to intellectual excellence, leadership, service, and justice, our students strive to respond courageously to the opportunities and challenges of our time. Through a rigorous and integrated program of academic, spiritual, and co-curricular activities, St. Ignatius educates all aspects of our students according to the Jesuit philosophy of Cura Personalis, care for the whole person.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory is a Catholic, Jesuit school serving the San Francisco Bay Area since 1855. Through a rigorous and integrated program of academic, spiritual, and co-curricular activities, St. Ignatius challenges its students to lead lives of faith, integrity, and compassion. Students are enriched by a diverse and loving Christian community and are called to become life-long learners who develop their individual talents for the greater glory of God. With a commitment to intellectual excellence, leadership, service, and justice, we strive to be men and women for and with others, responding courageously to the opportunities and challenges of our time.

In accordance with the Jesuit ideal of social justice, St. Ignatius College Preparatory fosters a community of understanding, respect, and inclusion of students of all backgrounds. SI promotes respect for all forms of diversity and strives for solidarity within the entire school community.

Studies have shown that, regardless of socio-cultural backgrounds, all students exposed to diversity are better at critical thinking, problem solving, interacting with a diverse workforce and becoming effective and empathetic leaders and agents of change than their counterparts who had little exposure to diversity. Through education and awareness, SI provides students the opportunity to honor and understand the diverse world in which we live in order to cultivate empathetic, effective leaders and agents of change.

Since 1855, we have been offering the young people of the Bay Area an education based on the philosophy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The Jesuit philosophy of education is centered on the reality that God is present in all things – from the beauty of nature to the intricacy of an algebraic formula! A large part of what we do each day is to help our students learn to understand how God is alive in their daily lives. The men and women – both Jesuit and lay – who serve our students and their families are exceptional educators. Our community is blessed with a rich tradition steeped in the care of each individual. Our ultimate desire is to help form young women and young men into the people that God is calling them to be – people for and with others.

St. Ignatius is committed to integrating meaningful technologies into the curriculum. We invest in making available to students the experiences, resources and connections to explore current and emerging technologies.

To that end, our teachers invest time and purpose in assessing the value of these technologies including: Canvas, our learning management system, the use of mobile devices, online/blended learning instruction, robotics, coding and engineering.

We work towards ensuring these technologies are used with purpose and support our school’s mission and strategic direction. We believe in supporting our teachers to be both enthusiastic and curious life-long learners in a digital age. St. Ignatius is also committed to addressing the gender gap in technology by leveraging the connections we have in the Tech industry through both our alumni and strong network here in San Francisco. We do this in order to provide connections to innovative and inspiring speakers for girls interested in pursuing their interests in STEM fields.
