Welcome to St. Teresa's Academy. This is a special place where we share a tradition and commitment to personal, academic, and spiritual growth. This is our legacy since our founding over 150 years ago by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. The Academy's identity with the sisters serves as the foundation for education as a Catholic institution. St. Teresa's Academy fosters, nurtures, and guides students to successful futures that will someday take them across the country and world. These leaders of tomorrow will leave the Academy with a solid educational and spiritual foundation and know they have been a part of a very special tradition.

Located on a beautiful, college-like campus in the heart of the Brookside and south Plaza neighborhoods, St. Teresa's promotes excellence in education. Here, students learn about the world and think beyond their classroom walls in an effort to succeed in an increasingly international and competitive environment. Every student utilizes a customized Surface Pro tablet for use throughout her tenure at STA. The wireless campus and distant learning classrooms enhance our global education initiatives. Accredited by the North Central Association/AdvancED since 1923, St. Teresa's molds students into confident, skilled, and caring young women through a challenging curriculum, an all-female environment, a diverse student body, Christian values, and personal responsibility.

St. Teresa's Academy is committed to the education of young women. We are a Catholic, independent, college preparatory high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. The Academy is rooted in Christian values and embraces a diverse student body. We promote excellence in education through a challenging curriculum, personal responsibility and participation in extracurricular activities.

Mutual respect, integrity, compassion and justice are values reflective of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and provide the basis for the school community. Belief in these values is expressed through prayer, liturgy, and service to others. Through the collaborative effort of the administration, faculty and staff, parents, board of directors, and alumnae, students learn the relationship between freedom and personal responsibility, empowering them to contribute positively to their world.

All students are exposed to a variety of educational activities and assessments to meet the diverse needs of individual learners. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process, using a variety of thinking and reasoning strategies. A successful student links new information with existing knowledge in meaningful ways and uses a variety of thinking and reasoning strategies.

The school's college-preparatory curriculum fosters logical, imaginative, and collaborative thinking. The interdisciplinary approach to instruction emphasizes the integration of knowledge. The curriculum encourages problem solving, decision making, and aesthetic appreciation--tools for lifelong learning.

The Academy's single-sex environment enhances leadership, self-confidence, and the development of a positive self-image. The curriculum incorporates contributions of women throughout history while emphasizing healthy lifestyles and community service--integral to the St. Teresa's Academy education.

The St. Teresa's Academy community values and embraces a culturally, economically, ethnically, and racially diverse student body. All community members bring divergent backgrounds and experiences that help develop the understanding and appreciation of others, vital in today's global environment.

St. Teresa's Academy also encourages student participation in a broad spectrum of extracurricular activities. These include the visual and performing arts, clubs, and academic and athletic programs. Leadership skills, competitiveness, and creativity are often revealed with students are actively engaged in activities they find fun and interesting.

Diversity has been a key component of the St. Teresa’s Academy mission and philosophy since our founding in 1866. The STA community values and embraces a racially, culturally, ethnically, geographically and economically diverse student body and school community. Students, faculty and staff with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives enrich and enhance the learning process and help each of us to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are so vital to succeed and live a meaningful life in today's global community.

St. Teresa’s recently underwent a Diversity Needs Assessment with members of our student body, faculty, parents, and alums. Information garnered from this assessment is being used to develop a comprehensive strategic action plan for a new Diversity Initiative. This initiative will not only strengthen and expand our commitment to diversity, but will identify concrete action steps we can take over the next few years to increase and celebrate diversity in our community while nurturing an inclusive, welcoming environment for all.

The Academy's college-prep curriculum is innovative, rigorous, and proudly traditional. Students choose from a broad-based curriculum with more than 100 course selections available, ranging from calculus, chemistry, and world languages to graphic design, computer programming, and dance. Each year, STA graduates receive merit-based scholarships to many prestigious colleges and universities. At St. Teresa's Academy, working hard, challenging each other and striving to be the best is the rule, not the exception.
