We are a school which is open, welcoming and inclusive. We, at St. Thomas’, seek to prepare pupils to find happiness and to lead lives of goodness, built upon Christian values, personal integrity and moral courage. We have a very committed, and highly supportive, staff that strive to ensure that all of our children are happy, successful and prepared with the skills and attributes to participate fully in our future society.

We believe that each individual matters. Through positive attitudes and partnership we endeavour to develop the whole child, meeting individual needs in a safe, secure stimulating learning environment. Everyone is encouraged to take responsibility, to have high expectations of themselves and others, to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.’

Values of respect, honesty, kindness, equality and fairness are actively promoted with our school community. We celebrate social and cultural diversity so that everyone feels valued and respected. We believe that positive partnership with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community will enhance the life and work of the school. Our aim is to develop children who are resilient, cooperative, adaptable, self disciplined and are able to meet the challenges of society.

In St Thomas’ our vision is to provide a nurturing and positive ethos for the whole school community underpinned by the values of our Catholic faith. In St Thomas’ Primary we value each individual and strive to treat each other with compassion, equality and fairness; in order to promote honesty, respect and positivity in our school. We believe everyone has the right to be treated fairly in an inclusive environment where there is compassion, tolerance and respect.

St. Thomas’ Primary School we follow the values and principles for the curriculum as set out in ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’. It affirms that ACfE is for all young people in all educational settings and that it should support them in a range of ways which helps them to maximise their potential. At the heart lies the aspiration that all children and young people should be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors (that is they should develop in the four capacities).
