At Star Primary you will find motivated children inspired by wonderful adults. Our staff are committed to our inspiring and creative curriculum, which offers languages, sports and the creative arts. Children will have the opportunity to encounter Shakespeare, explore journalism and learn about different world cultures. The teaching of a foreign language is a key focus of the school with children taking part in Spanish lessons conducted by native Spanish speaking teachers.
Fundamentally, we aim to develop children’s competence and abilities in the basic skills of Reading, Writing and Numeracy because these are the building blocks of all other learning. We are also striving to further develop the Holistic Curriculum, focussing more on outdoor learning, team work, developing self-esteem and looking after our children’s emotional well-being. Star Primary School is a Rights Respecting School where every child is equally loved and respected.
At Star we believe that everyone is equally loved and accepted. Staff and Governors are concerned that all aspects of school life are “fair” and “safe” for children, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.
We have a range of policies in place and available on our website and in school that are designed to achieve a fair, safe and harmonious environment. Policies provide guidance on the acceptable standards of behaviour expected of all staff, governors, children and adult visitors to our school.
Our governing body supports the school by complying with the Education Act 2002 (section 175) and we keep up to date with guidance issued by the Secretary of State and LA.
We follow Education Department and local authority guidance on safeguarding children and safer recruitment to ensure we provide a safe environment and take action to identify and protect any children or members of our learning community who may be at risk of significant harm. Our Child Safeguarding Officer actively promotes and champions child safeguarding.

I attended Star Lane School in 1952 to 1958 it was a wonderful experience with such great teachers and staff members. I'm in photograph 17 along with Frank Lampard Snr. (West Ham United and England) and Mr. Percy Dunlop our coach. I have the photograph in my home office along with another showing the Cricket Team. I have lived in The United States for 48 years but still have fond memories of Canning Town. Not sure I should admit this but I also have a Liverpool Road street sign which came off of grocery store building when they tore it down.
