Welcome to Stover Preparatory School. We are a school where academic and personal development go hand-in-hand.

Stover School is a unique and very special place; a school which delivers cutting edge education while retaining a healthy focus on traditional Christian morals, values and manners. Happy children are at the very centre of our ethos, reflecting our robust system of pastoral care. Children who feel safe, valued, respected and who trust those around them are free to focus on learning to their maximum potential. Our stunning rural setting allows children to enjoy being children and is integral to enhancing this ethos.

In this school, the family atmosphere ensures that every child is known and understood by the staff and their fellow pupils, as an individual who has something to offer the school community and world at large. This individual approach is reflected in our absolute focus on adding value to the academic potential of each pupil, in an effort to maximise their individual educational and examination outputs, regardless of ability.

We firmly believe that success breeds success and our extensive additional curriculum and activities programme provides opportunities for all of our children to explore a range of interests and enjoy positive outcomes, leading to a burgeoning self-confidence that then reaps rewards and enhances progress in all areas of the academic and additional curriculum.

At Stover School we take full advantage of our single campus for pupils from 3 to 18 years of age. The Prep and Senior stages are fully integrated, with staff working across both phases. We also provide a number of structured roles and responsibilities which allow older pupils to work with the younger ages. This enhances the Stover family, gives the older pupils the responsibility they need to grow and enables the younger pupils to aspire to these role models.

In pursuit of our mission we aim to:

  • Invest in educational excellence enabling the provision of effective, inspiring and stimulating teaching to pupils of wide ranging abilities, encouraging their enthusiasm for learning, enabling each pupil to achieve their potential.
  • Maintain an ongoing evaluation of the quality and content of both teaching and learning.
  • Provide a broad, forward looking curriculum at all levels, with appropriate resources.
  • Maintain a supportive and happy environment where the individual and spiritual needs of the pupils and staff are recognised and provided for.
  • Provide sound moral values through clear expectations of behaviour, emphasising respect and consideration for others.
  • Encourage self-confidence, self-motivation and self-discipline within a safe and caring community.
  • Engage and maintain effective communication with members of the School and the wider community.
  • Value the School’s special, natural environment and holistic estate and use them wherever appropriate in the curriculum.

At Stover School in Devon, the dedication of the staff is palpable, and my child’s leaps in learning and personal growth have been a joy to witness!

My daughter tried their two week free trial for weekly boarding. She arrived at Stover hating school, most people and just wanted to be at home. After a few days she rang saying people were kind. After the two weeks she wanted to stay. Two years later my biggest problem is she now has to leave and begin A levels elsewhere. Two years of being happy. She is transformed. It might not be perfect in every way but being happy is priceless and worth every penny. I will always be very grateful to this school.
