Sunshine Kids Academy is an international preschool located near Ginza in the heart of Tokyo’s Chuo City. Our school provides a first rate curriculum in a warm and loving, home-like learning environment. Our thematic learning approach focuses on each child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.
Well designed classrooms feature a variety of rich learning centers for children to work and learn both independently and in groups. There are warm, cozy, carpeted reading areas with chairs and books and circle time areas for stories and group activities. Our low student-teacher ratio ensures optimal attention and learning for each child. Every child is supported to feel secure, comfortable, and confident in his or her social interactions.
Sunshine Kids Academy provides a variety of year-round academic programs for ages 12 months to 12 years old. These programs include toddler care, preschool, pre-kindergarten, afterschool, extended care, summer, winter and spring school. The academic year starts in September and ends in June. Sunshine Kids Academy recognizes that busy parents and their active children appreciate the school offering a solution for scholastic child care when our regular school is closed. Therefore, we offer a Winter, Spring, and Summer school that is both fun and educational. Each offer a specialized theme and lessons that relate to the season as well as various other topics to allow the students to learn and explore. Classes are open to children aged 1-12 and requires separate registration.

At Sunshine Kids Academy, we believe that children learn best when engaged in activities that not only help them discover new skills, but are also fun and challenging at the same time. We are committed to providing an environment that will foster a love for learning. Through planned activities, free play, dance, arts, crafts, story time, circle time and many other engaging activities, the children will develop the necessary skills to have a successful school life and beyond. Our ultimate goal for each child is to learn self-discipline. To this end, we teach responsibility, not obedience. Our task is to help children develop skills that enable them to know and understand right from wrong, to make the correct choices, and to see how their behavior affects others.
Sunshine Kids Academy’s philosophy is every student will learn and develop healthy social, emotional and physical skills within a safe and enjoyable learning environment. We not only provide a safe and secure school environment, we also provide a lot of love and encouragement. This philosophy helps our students to grow academically as well as physically and emotionally.
To educate the whole child, young learners also need a strong sense of self along with respect for other’s feelings and/or belongings. Through conflict resolution, our students will develop these important traits. Respect also includes gender, age, race, religion, ability and disability. These are imprinted upon our students through reading activities as well as cultural activities and events. It is our goal to create an environment and program where the student’s natural desire to learn is stimulated through meaningful, appropriate and playful learning experiences; one that meets the needs of each student as an individual.
A safe and secure environment is just the first part of our philosophy. We believe that children are naturally curious and will learn as a result of their drive to discover new things. We use a variety of teaching methods that allow students to learn at their own pace and in a way they feel comfortable. Our students are provided with many opportunities to explore and discover their world. Daily walks to the park, free play between activities, dance lessons, arts and crafts, story time and music lessons are just a few of the activities that allow our students to be free with their minds and to express themselves openly.
At Sunshine Kids Academy, we believe that dance is not only fun but a key component in educating the whole child. It helps young learners to become well rounded, self confident human beings by encouraging creativity and teaching coordination, which leads to healthy hearts, happy faces and flexible bodies. Our Rainbow and Super Stars classes attend lessons weekly. The lessons foster a nurturing environment that enables each student to learn new skills and form a lifelong love of ballet and the performing arts.
We recognize that preschool years are vital, especially in terms of language development. Children are naturally designed to absorb languages introduced to them during their first three years of life. Each week, our experienced native or native level educators teach basic Japanese to all of our students. Students are taught listening and speaking skills through the study of daily vocabulary and practicing reading and writing hiragana and katakana letters. Our fantastic teachers make language learning fun by incorporating songs, games and art projects to engage our young learners!

My child has blossomed at Sunshine Kids Academy in Tokyo! The quality of education is outstanding, and the staff is so helpful and caring. I am amazed at the progress my child has made. This is truly the best school in the city!
