Welcome to the Faith Lutheran College Tanunda Lutheran School ELC & Junior Campus website. We are a private Lutheran Primary School and Early Learning Centre situated in the beautiful Barossa Valley. A school steeped in history, Tanunda Lutheran School provides educational best practice and state of the art facilities that provide our students with every opportunity to enjoy success.
In an ever changing world, Tanunda Lutheran School endeavours to provide its students and families with every tool necessary for success. An Early Learning Centre that delivers outstanding pre-school education and smooth transition to school and a one to one notebook computer program for students in year 4-7 are examples of this.
We provide outstanding educational opportunities within a Christian framework, where every member of the community is highly valued and supported. We are dedicated to developing and challenging every person to reach their full potential.
As parents, choosing the right school for your children can be one of the most important decisions you can ever make. The early years of a child’s education are paramount. At Tanunda Lutheran School we provide a safe and caring environment, with a highly dedicated and motivated staff, encouraging character development and positive contribution to society for pre-school and primary school children.
At Tanunda Lutheran School 75th Anniversary celebrations our historical archive was launched. We are aware of the rich and unique history of our school both in terms of a local social commentary and also as a part of Lutheran education in Australia. The results of this process of collection, collation and documentation were displayed at the Anniversary celebrations. While we marvel at the photographs of the school population and buildings of the 1800s, we are also keen to document the stories of our past scholars and would welcome any information, books, memorabilia and photographs that come to light.
We particularly appreciate the continuity of the generations that attend our school. We have a relatively high number of current students whose parents, grandparents and even great grandparents attended this school. The record is seven generations in a row, whose names read like a history book in itself.
Not only are we making history in establishing our collection, we are also committed to documenting the present. An early school prospectus reads Modern Teaching Aids are extensively used e.g. Films, Flannelgraph, Radio, T.V., Reading Laboratory, Attribute Blocks etc. Today we can record our use of student notebooks, ipads, smart boards and internet access. We are making history in our building programs, our teaching philosophies and the experiences we offer our students. We trust that the stories they will tell their grandchildren will be of happy and exciting school days.
We believe that it is most important that the children develop relationships which are built on the Gospel values of: Love, Courage, Justice, Humility, Compassion, Hope, Forgiveness, Quality, Service and Appreciation.
- To help children see the love of God in their lives and to help them share that joy with those around them.
- To provide for each child, instruction in God’s Word and its place in our lives.
- To provide a setting where children can respond to God’s Word through worship and Christian living.
- To provide for each child, a wide range of experiences and activities which will stimulate interest in, and desire for learning.
- To provide an atmosphere where each child is encouraged to develop his/her individual talents as fully as possible.
- To give each child a solid foundation in all basic subject areas.
- To provide opportunity for each child to experience a wide range of creative experiences.
- To provide opportunity for the total mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth of each child.
