In the field of technology transfer, the Technical University of Liberec has a tradition of research in close cooperation especially with the textile and automotive industries. This has guaranteed excellent placements to graduates. Furthermore, the University is involved in more than 100 research projects worth almost USD 3 million and in contract research.

While connected globally, the University understands its responsibility as an institution uniquely located in Central Europe and engages in cross-border projects.International students can apply to study in almost 120 programmes and specializations which are carried out in the Czech language.

For those who are fluent speakers of Czech, detailed information on the study programmes of the TUL taught in the Czech language. The fees in these programmes are sponsored by the Czech government, which means that students don't pay any tuition fees.

It is necessary though to keep in mind that Czech is not an easy language to master for native speakers of other than Slavonic languages. To be able to study in Czech, international applicants are recommended to have completed at least the B2 level of Czech to succeed in studying in Czech.

Before an applicant can receive an offer of admission, her/his previous education must be evaluated and recognized. How this is done depends on the level of education the future student has reached. High school graduates submit their high school diploma (or equivalent) to the regional authority (the Liberecký kraj in our case) for evaluation.

Alumni of Bachelor programmes submit their bachelor diploma and their diploma supplement for evaluation to the Recognition office at the Technical University of Liberec. Each applicant can apply for the recognition at ONE university only. Any Czech university which finds out that the very same person has already applied at another Czech university will automatically terminate the procedure.

The Czech Republic is located in Central Europe. It is surrounded by Germany to the northwest, Poland to the northeast, Slovakia to the southeast and Austria to the south. It has no coastline. The Czech Republic consists of three main parts: Czech Lands (or Bohemia) to the west, Moravia to the southeast and Silesia to the northeast. The capital, Prague, is located slightly to the northwest. The Technical University in Liberec is about 100 kilometres to the north of Prague.

There is perhaps only one place in the world where it takes only 15 minutes by tram to transport yourself from a natural ski resort to a magnificent, traditional theatre. A city where it takes just a few moments to swap a unique mountain hotel for a tropical glasshouse filled with orchids. A city that gave the world one of the most famous car constructors in history. A city on the outskirts of which a traditional cross-country skiing race is held, one of the biggest in Europe. This is Liberec, our town.

Scientists have shown that passionate interests can allow students to overcome academic difficulties or perceptual disabilities. The researchers educating young generations suggest that to be interesting, material must be novel, complex, and comprehensible. That means introducing students to things they have not encountered before (or novel aspects of familiar things), and calibrating their complexity so that these things are neither too hard nor too easy to understand. More learning leads to more questions, which in turn leads to more learning. The pedagogical goal in each case of scientific investigation is to produce young adults with interests that provide them with lasting intellectual stimulation and fulfillment, interests that they pursue over a lifetime with vigor and zest. To suceed in the role of facilitators of learning, the researchers must provide the right role models themselves. The Technical University of Liberec is proud of having such academics.
