TIS provides an American-style college-preparatory education to foreign expatriate and local resident students in a peaceful, park-like setting in a suburb of Tianjin. TIS originally to provide an educational program for the students of foreign nationalities residing in the TEDA area. Officially, TIS is the international division of TEDA International School which is part of the Binhai-area public school system. Like the schools in that system, TIS is governed by the Binhai Culture and Education Development Office and receives legal oversight and financial approval by the Superintendent of TEDA International School. The Headmaster is responsible for the school and operational leadership and administration of the School and TIS campus.
