Triple crown for MBA, new programmes announcement and Nottingham Malaysia-CNN partnership

Triple triumph for Nottingham University Business School (NUBS)

Nottingham University Business School joins the top one per cent of business schools in the world that hold ‘triple crown’ accreditation. The renowned ‘triple crown’ accreditation for business schools worldwide is made up of the three most influential accrediting organisations: AACSB in the United States, AMBA in the UK, and EQUIS in Europe.

Furthermore, the school has earned these accreditations for all three of its locations in the UK, China and Malaysia, making it the only business school in the UK to hold triple accreditation for its operations on every campus. Employers recognise the accolade as a mark of high standards, quality and reputation.

Dr Jason Pandya-Wood, Dean of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia, shared that this is a “fantastic achievement” and one that the University staff is extremely proud of.

He further added, “I am especially proud of our staff and students for continuing to shape the future of business school education and research. This accreditation is a testament to their incredible efforts.”

Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) introduces two new programmes under its aegis

The second half of 2022 is off to a good start due to some exciting news – the Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) is expanding its education portfolio by including two brand-new degree programmes: BSc Finance, Management and Business Analytics, and BSc Marketing and Management.

The BSc Finance, Management and Business Analytics programme will provide students with the opportunity to learn programming skills, machine learning and applied predictive modelling in an application-oriented environment with various data analytics tools and software, courtesy of the University’s partnership with SAS. Data is king when it comes to decision-making these days and we’re very excited that this programme is now made accessible to students who are keen on a fast-paced career in finance, management and business analytics where they can make an immediate and significant impact.

The second – but also new – programme to join NUBS’ extensive lineup is BSc Marketing and Management, will allow students to develop essential business management skills including finance, leadership, risk management, understanding of economic policies as well as business and idea development and how to best market products and generate sales.

The Marketing and Management module offered is a CIM-accredited degree. As qualifications from The Chartered Institute of Marketing are recognised by international businesses and are the most sought after by employers, NUBS graduates can rest easy knowing that this would work in their favour if they’re planning to seek work abroad.

New programme for psychology postgraduates

NUBS isn’t the only school that’s actively adding new programmes to its portfolio – The School of Psychology is also following suit by offering a new master’s degree, an MSc in Developmental Disorders, starting September 2022.

The programme aims to provide advanced theoretical knowledge of the psychological aspects of developmental disorders, develop the students’ expertise in cutting-edge research methods to investigate the psychological aspects of developmental disorders and expand the students’ practical knowledge on aspects of diagnosis, assessments, and interventions (therapeutic or educational).

The course will run for three academic semesters and will involve workshops, lectures, seminars, research supervision and teaching modules that cover Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Childhood Clinical and Behavioural Disorders, Developmental Disorders in Context, Psychological Assessment, Advanced Methods in Psychology and Professional Skills.

All teaching under this new module is led by research, meaning that the programme is delivered by highly productive academic staff who regularly publish scientific articles in the world’s top-ranking psychology journals, particularly those specialising as an outlet for new discoveries relating to various aspects of developmental disorders.

In collaboration with CNN

At the School of Media, Languages and Cultures (SMLC), a most thrilling adventure awaits students of MA Media, Communications and Culture – a chance to attend an all-expenses-paid five-day bootcamp at the CNN Academy in Abu Dhabi!

The multinational cable news channel and the University of Nottingham’s School of Media, Language and Culture are both stalwarts in the media world, and the latter pitched for this affiliation to be made available as an optional module.

Students can opt to replace Postcolonial Theory, Mass Media or Working in the Culture Industry with this CNN-backed module – aptly called Digital Storytelling and Production. The 20-credit module, at its core, will introduce students to the fundamentals of news production as well as trending topics in today’s digital-first media environment. It will also feature a practical education element with students familiarising themselves with the fundamentals of storytelling and production.

Once students complete their weekly courses via the CNN Academy Hub’s self-learning platform and submit their related assignments and assessments, they will then jet off to the Abu Dhabi bootcamp where they attend five full days of seminars and interactive activities involving video editing and production, along with pitch and presentation work.

What’s more, at the end of the bootcamp, students will not only earn a better understanding of how a newsroom operates but also get to meet the famous anchor and CNN Abu Dhabi’s managing editor, Becky Anderson herself!
