Minsk, the capital of Belarus and the 11th most populous city in Europe, has several leading universities providing excellent educational facilities to students. The city is the financial, commercial and communication hotspot of the Republic of Belarus. Minsk also holds a world rank of 84th position on the employer activity indicator. Pre-school education in Minsk is compulsory but around 70% of children will not attend a nursery or kindergarten. The university was established in 1920 and has more than 17 faculties offering training across 89 specialties and 121-course specializations.
The university has approximately 35,000 students enrolled. The university also hosts many traditional and influential festivities, like the Student Kaleidoscope Festival. This is a five-day multicultural event held in the university where BTNU students from across the globe collaborate to highlight the uniqueness of their traditional ethnic cultures.
University students in Minsk are allowed to work part-time while they study. Most students in Minsk work in international call centers or English teaching schools, while some will also take up jobs at restaurants or cafes. International students can also get paid to teach in English if they have a TEFL/TESOL certificate.
International students and researchers who travel to Minsk must have a visa. For the student visa, the students should submit their passport with at least a six months validity past the decided travel date, the filled in visa application form, photographs, medical certificate and an invitation letter from the university. Student visas are issued by the embassies as well as the consulates from around the world. The student visa is issued for 90 days. After the students reach the university, they will be assisted in obtaining a temporary residence permit that is valid for one year.
