Our university has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We are dedicated to offering our students a unique and exceptional experience in an atmosphere of vibrant cultural diversity. We take great pride in providing our students with the knowledge, skills and support they need now – and in the future – so they become employable graduates.

United by exceptional motivation, creativity and potential, and situated in the heart of Bavaria, we are a community in the centre of a lively, historical and beautiful city, an attractive location for business and research. Our university plays a prominent role in providing a communication network for the local political, economic and social community. We set very high standards and have a clear vision of the future.

With 6000 students the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest in Bavarian Swabia. With over 150 professors and more than 300 tutors, we use the latest teaching methods and equipment to provide students with the best education in science, technology and the arts.

The commitment of over 290 academic support staff, as well as our state-of-the-art laboratories, workshops and lecture halls, all contribute to excellent conditions for research and teaching.

6000 students, 150 professors, 300 tutors, 290 academic support staff. Professors, assistants and students work together in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. The contribution of each individual contributes to the success of the institution as a whole.

As a modern university we stand for innovation, creativity and progress. Our central position in Augsburg makes us an ideal focal point for creating a communication network between the economy, society and politics. The fact that Augsburg is conveniently situated in the heart of Bavaria makes it an attractive location for both business and research.

Our university has a long and successful history in Augsburg. In 1710, the private art school of the artist Joachim von Sandrart was taken over by the Reichsstädtische Kunstakademie (Augsburg Municipal Academy of the Arts) and higher education was made available to the general public in Augsburg.

In 1835 the Kunstakademie was integrated into the then two-year-old “Königliche Polytechnische Schule”, and continued life as a polytechnic for design and engineering.

In 1971, after many years as an engineering and design school, the university entered a new phase, when the University of Applied Sciences was founded. Three years later Business Studies was added to the existing disciplines of design and engineering.

Our university stands for applied research and development at the highest level. We set new standards for industry, offering our partners customised solutions for their often complex professional requirements. We support companies in the development and optimization of innovative ideas – through consultancy, scientific analysis and research in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

Our centres of excellence in Mechatronic, Environmental Technology and Construction Engineering have been widely recognised for their contribution to professional practice in their respective fields. Other main focus areas are Interactive Media and Fiber Composites. As a central contact point the Institute for Technology and Knowledge Transfer serves, co-ordinating multidisciplinary and cross-faculty research programmes.

Every semester professors and students take part in practice-based research and development projects with commercial partners. 90 percent of our bachelor and master theses are earned in companies. Practical orientation pays off: Our students are awarded many prizes for their work.

Studying in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering opens up a varied professional field in the engineering disciplines. The courses offered range from Nanotechnology to Microelectronics and Machine Technology, Energy Distribution or Electronic Communication Networks. Energy technology and its optimization, above all with regard to the conservation of resources and regenerative energies or modern drivetrain engineering are markets for electrical engineers. Today everyone is in the position to access electrical energy at any time and in any quantity required or to communicate with others, but it is not exclusively about electrical contacts but about creating contacts between man and the machine. This diversity described is mirrored in Mechatronics, an interaction between Mechanics, Electronics and Informatics.

The job description of a mechatronics engineer or an electrical engineer is just as varied as the contents of the course. The professional field covered by an electrical engineer ranges from the development of electronic equipment to the varied uses in systems programming, planning and installation as well as setting up operations and the maintenance of automated electrical and electronic installations. Project development, project management, the control and the monitoring of such installations as well as hardware and software development are part of the field of activities. Whoever enjoys developing automobile and robot systems, perfecting information and telecommunication technology and creating high tech products for the health sector for example is ideally suited to becoming a mechatronics engineer.

Experienced professors, freelance lecturers as well as faculty employees see it as their task to instil the joy of learning into their students and to guide them towards obtaining a successful degree. Numerous study trips and project work enrich the course of study with unforgettable experiences. Intensive personal supervision and a modern training concept supported by a large number of companies and foreign university partners will give the student the possibility to have excellent job prospects in the business and economic sector.

Studying also means joining in !! You will have the opportunity to be involved in shaping your life at university for example by taking part in research projects, by teaching tutorial groups, by taking part in university sports activities, singing in the university choir or by being a member of one of the university committees.
