Welcome to the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria. At the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions students can complete eight Bachelor- and three Master-Programms in Linz, Ried, Steyr, Vöcklabruck and Wels. The longstanding experience of the teaching team and the hospitals, speakers from the working field and internships in health care facilities ensure that education and training have a strong basis of expert- and scientific know-how and intensive cooperation between research and teaching.
The University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria was founded in 2010 by the OÖ Gesundheits- und Spitals-AG of Upper Austria (gespag), the Kepler Universitätsklinikum GmbH and the OÖ. Ordensspitäler Koordinations GmbH (OSKG).
Active participation in the European Higher Education Area and the strengthening of international networks in the health education field are among the most important strategic goals of the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria. Since its foundation in 2010, significant steps have been set.
The University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria is working in accordance with the aim of offering the best quality in theoretical and practical training and thus promoting the skills development of future employees in the health sector and its various institutions to a high standard. For this reason, networking with international educational institutions and companies is an important quality characteristic for us.The aim is to implement innovation through knowledge transfer in the training for the health sector. Thanks to international exchanges new skills for new jobs are identified and evaluated, thus achieving a higher flexibility in the labour market.
Our Bachelor Programmes are Biomedical Science, Dietetics, Health Care and Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Physiotheray, Radiological Technology, Speech and Language Therapy. Master Course is University Dedactics. Master Programme are Applied Technologies for Medical Diagnostics and Management for Health Professionals.
The objective of the Bologna process is to create a common European Higher Education Area and to bring about a harmonization of all European higher education systems.´
At our University of Applied Sciences the health professionals study architecture was designed in accordance with the Bologna criteria and implemented in the following Points - Establishing a system of understandable and comparable degrees (Bachelor and Master). Transparency of course content using the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), the modularization of the curriculum and the Diploma Supplement. Improving the mobility of students – the curricula include one semester as a time window for an internship or study abroad. Promotion and recognition of the mobility of teachers and university staff. Recognition of degrees and study periods. Ensuring quality standards at national and European Level. For the purpose of institutional quality the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria is committed to the continuing process of course development. Cooperation between the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area. Integration of people from different cultures and with special needs.
The focus of the UAS for Health Professions Upper Austria is to ensure high standards of education, practice and research in the area of health care professions. The guiding principle of research and development is targeted on people’s health and quality of life.
Innovative projects in the defined subject areas, assisting technologies as well as health promotion and prevention provide considerable contributions in addressing the current and future challenges facing society. Furthermore R&D projects are implemented, which pick up further trends at the interface between health- and research as well as innovation policies.
It is for this reason that the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria implements high quality R&D projects – both in cooperation with its partners as well as independently, whereby the R&D is characterized in particular through its inter-professional and interdisciplinary approach.
