University of Muhammadiyah Pontianak

University of Muhammadiyah PONTIANAK (UM PONTIANAK) is one of 178 Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia. Establishment initiated by the Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah West Kalimantan period 1985 - 1990, and subsequently inaugurated its founding by Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah Central Executive, represented by the Chairman of the Council of Higher Education Muhammadaiyah Drs. Al-Kindi Djazman on 3 October 1990. The UMP licensed establishments Decision Letter (SK) of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 0518 / O / 1990 with registered status for 3 (three) faculties namely Faculty of Economics, Department of Management, Faculty Aquaculture Department of Agriculture, and the Faculty of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering.

At the beginning of establishment (1990 - 1991) the administrative activities and lectures held in Complex University of Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah High School building) Jalan A. Yani Pontianak. Furthermore, the end of 1991 UMP buy sports hall located at Jalan A. Yani No. 111 Pontianak, adjacent to the House Elections Commission (KPU) and the Office of the Governor of West Kalimantan, so at the end of the same year administration of all activities and lectures are held in the building after renovation.

Vision is "Being a university that excels in the development of science, art and human resources for the empowerment of the community based on the values ​​to Islamization". Mission is To realize the vision above, the Muhammadiyah University Pontianak formulates its mission as follows. Education and teaching, research and service to the community in a professional manner in accordance Islamic values.

Promote and develop the art of science and technology and according to demand changes or epoch. Develop and improve the quality of human resources, faculty and staff, to produce graduates who have the spirit of self-reliance in a variety of knowledge, expertise, technology and art. Build centers of excellence ( center of excellence ) line with their competence and strategic featured area. Establish an ongoing collaboration with stakeholders at local and national level, society, industry and the business world both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Produce high quality graduates with a master of science and technology and professional manner and Islamic art and highly competitive. Creating and developing science and art synergism in accordance with the demands of changing times or beneficial to the welfare of the people. Improve and develop the professionalism of the faculty and staff in education and teaching quality. Creates and develops the relevance of education in accordance with the competence of stakeholders based regional strategic advantage in dealing with the competitiveness of the regional, national and global. Strengthen the organization and public image through the development of co-operation ( net working ) with various stakeholders at regional, national and international organizations to create a healthy, independent, and competitive.
