Around the world universities are considered as a catalyst for change. These are centers of promoting creative ideas, rational and critical thinking, policy formulation and value orientation. University of Swat is looking forward to achieve excellence in imparting quality teaching and skills, promoting research culture, and develop an ideal industry-academia linkage programme. We are looking forward to the desired change, change that we need to prosper as a nation, but one individual cannot bring a change. An individual can only provide quality leadership, which is needed to take people along for achieving desired goals. We expect every individual to respect and help others in matters that do not discriminate against others. Students and faculty form the backbone of our university and they have a duty to perform. We shall work with dedication, devotion, and commitment, in a congenial atmosphere of mutual trust, unity, discipline and love free from all kinds of prejudices.

University of Swat aims at utilizing its potential to set up best traditions in imparting education and skills with a focus on what is relevant to the area and to set up proper standards for achieving this objective. Provide quality leadership to the area by strengthening the community, industry, social structure, and institutions. It focuses on bringing about that social change which ensures an atmosphere of understanding, tolerance, and mutual co-existence based on the development of freedom of expression and critical and constructive thinking. The objective of social and industrial evolution is ensured by following the principles of access, quality, relevance, objectivity, and upholding merit.

On May 29th , 2010 the Prime Minister of Pakistan, visited swat and announced the establishment of university of swat. The university came into formal existence at dated 07/07/2010 by the Honorable Governor. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr.Awais Ahmad Ghani with the prior approval of the President of Pakistan. Its first Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Farooq Khan (Shaheed) was appointed on 23/08/2010. Initially the Higher Education Department (HED) handed over two buildings to the university located at saidu sharif swat. The University of Swat own campus is under construction at charbagh. currently the University is residing in different campuses at kanju township.
