The University Of West London (UWL) is a public research university in the United Kingdom. The University has won several prestigious accolades including the ‘Top modern University in London’ (The Guardian University Guide 2022) and ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’ in the Times & Sunday Times Good university guide 2021, and UWL is ranked 23rd in UK (The Guardian University Guide 2023). The University of West London RAK Branch Campus is located in the educational hub of RAKEZ Academic Zone and offers high quality, career-focused courses imparting excellence in the recent trends in Business, Finance and Computing. Undergraduate courses are BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Business Studies, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Cyber Security. Students who completes BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance will get 9 papers exemptions from ACCA. Postgraduate courses are MBA, MSc Cyber Security and MSc Artificial Intelligence.
Courses are designed to inspire students to become innovative professionals, connecting them to exciting and rewarding careers. In-class teaching emphasizes real world experience and is informed by the latest research and cutting edge global practices. The Employability Lab & Placement cell at the RAK branch campus focus on developing the qualities, skills and expertise that future employer is looking for and giving internships and placement support. Several activities are designed to give students a strong foundation from which they can build an exciting career. Other services offered to students include accommodation, transportation and a provision to apply for student visa for the course duration.
Undergraduate students are eligible for financial assistance in the form of scholarships and grants up to 45% of their course fees. UWL RAK offers meritorious scholarships to students who earned good grades/scores in Grade 12th /equivalent. Postgraduate students too can avail study grants based on their professional work experience and achievements.
A range of undergraduate courses are available at the UWL RAK Branch Campus, including BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Business Studies, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, and BSc (Hons) Cyber Security. The BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course holds accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Consequently, upon successful completion of this course, students become eligible for exemptions in 9 papers of the ACCA, enhancing the course's value. Additionally, three postgraduate courses are offered: Masters in Business Administration, MSc Cyber Security, and MSc Artificial Intelligence.
All courses at the branch campus are delivered through face-to-face instruction. These courses are carefully crafted to offer diverse learning opportunities to students, enabling them to cultivate their skills and knowledge for personal and professional growth. The aim is to equip students with the necessary foundations to become creative and forward-thinking professionals, connecting them with fulfilling and promising career paths. In-class teaching places significant emphasis on real-world experience, drawing from the latest research and incorporating cutting-edge global practices.
All academic operations at the branch campus are overseen by the home university to uphold the academic standards observed at the home institution, from a student's enrollment to their graduation.
The Employability Lab & Placement Cell at the RAK branch campus is dedicated to fostering sustainable careers by nurturing the qualities, skills, and expertise that the future business world seeks in employees and entrepreneurs. Students undergo training to enhance critical thinking, cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, and socially responsible conduct, all of which are essential for career advancement. As an accounting and finance student, UWL seems to be a great option for me to pursue ACCA. I’m given 9 exemptions as the degree ensures that I would be able to complete the remaining papers with the knowledge and skills I gained through the learning experience from UWL. With the exemptions being granted, I’m happy that I enrolled into this university as the degree allows me to save my time and is such a smart way to achieve my goal. Coming from a science background, my tutors have genuinely shown interest in helping me learn the basics of accounting.
