Our vision at Uphall is to create a learning community where each and every child is at the heart of all that we do and say. We value the individuality of each pupil, acknowledge the worth of all that they bring with them and its impact on the life of the whole school. We understand that nurturing children’s personal, social and emotional development has a positive impact on learning. We strive to do the best we can in everything that we do, and we believe that working in close partnership with parents and families will enable our children to achieve their full potential, both academically and as global citizens.

Our learning environment, which is safe, welcoming and stimulating, promotes our vision of children’s development into independent, lifelong learners with the skills to succeed in the future – persistence, resilience, effort, positivity and self-awareness. An inclusive school, celebrating diversity and promoting respect for one another, we ensure that each child is valued and has a sense of belonging. We are a Rights Respecting School, putting the UN Convention on the rights of the child at the heart of our planning, policies, practice and ethos, to enable children to develop as global citizens. We firmly believe that the UNCRC reflects the beliefs of our school community.

Values are fundamental expressions of what we think and believe. As a school we encourage children to think about personal and social values, to become aware of, and involved in the life and concerns of their community and society, and so develop their capacity to be active and effective future citizens. At uphall primary school our core rights respecting values are:

  • Respect: Develop self-respect, and respect for others. We promote and develop an inclusive community, where we will appreciate and value the diversity of individuals’ circumstances and backgrounds.
  • Friendship: We value friendship as fundamental to the development and fulfilment of ourselves and others, and the good of all individuals in our school community.
  • Responsibility: Whilst respecting our universal rights we take responsibility for the way we lead our lives; how we use our talents, rights and opportunities to achieve the very best that we can.
  • Perseverance: We maintain a positive attitude and do our best in all aspects of our learning and development.
  • Kindness: We show care and concern for all, and exercise kindness towards others.
  • Empathy: In January 2020 we added Empathy to our values. As a school community we feel that Empathy is a value that will support all in developing greater social skills, deeper connections with others and happier compassionate hearts. We feel that by exploring this value with our children they will have happier friendships, a greater sense of well being and belonging. Our RRS Ambassador team will be leading some key work with enhancing and promoting our values in action in 2020.

I would recommend anyone to send their child to this school they will love it as much as most of us did!! However, it's not guaranteed that you'll get a space for your child because of the amount of children already attending the school hehe~
