The Walker School is metro Atlanta's college-preparatory independent school for students in Pre-K through 12th grade seeking an engaging educational experience within an intimately scaled, caring and diverse community where opportunities abound and meaningful relationships inspire transformative learning.

Wonder guides the educational experience at Walker. It is in our DNA. We kindle students' innate curiosity and channel it into challenging curricula, engaging interpersonal relationships, demanding athletics, and stimulating extracurricular activities. Our goal is to help each child chart a path of self-realization, to discover who they are, and to become their best possible self.

Equipped with a clarity of purpose, strong sense of self, and the confidence and skills to navigate a 21st century world, Walker students make their own path, leading in all manner of endeavor and following only where wonder leads. We believe:

  • In the infinite worth and dignity of the individual.
  • That student learning is the chief priority of the school.
  • That the school should provide a safe, supportive, and challenging environment for learning with clear goals and high expectations for student achievement.
  • That the school's curriculum should develop creative and analytical thinking.
  • That the school should foster in students the confidence to work independently and the social skills to work collaboratively.
  • That school should encourage parents, teachers, and students to work together toward common goals.
  • That the school plays an important role in teaching students to value themselves and others.
  • That the school should provide a framework for learning to make responsible decisions.
  • That involvement in and appreciation of the arts is a vital part of education.
  • That the school should encourage the development of a healthy body through curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • That an understanding of the past is fundamental to understanding the present.
  • That the school should encourage students, faculty, and parents to develop a perspective that embraces diversity and enhances global awareness.
  • That the school should provide the foundation and framework for giving students the skills and the flexibility that are necessary to thrive in a changing world.
  • That the school can help students to become aware of the needs of others by encouraging involvement in the community.
  • That the continual development of the faculty is essential to the school's improvement.

Wonder leads the academic experience at The Walker School. From Primary School to Upper School, teachers take an inquiry-based approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on a traditional college preparatory curriculum with the freedom to pursue topics inspired by current events or that have piqued the interests of students. Our students learn by doing, by teaching others, and by exploring their passions. Such a nimble approach enables students to develop scholarly habits, as well as soft skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Equipped with a healthy curiosity, a supportive network, and an appreciation of the world around them, Walker students learn to make choices, becoming more discerning individuals, shaping their distinct perspectives, and achieving a mastery of subject matter and self.

Our expectations are high but the pressure is low, thanks to the small teacher-to-student ratio that allows for more personal attention and close relationships that instill in the children a sense of responsibility to their teachers, their peers, and themselves.

In preparation for success in college and beyond, all our students gain technical proficiencies and essential literacies for the growth of academic achievement, critical thinking, and problem-solving, while learning to effectively communicate and collaborate in a digital world. Walker incorporates the development of specific technical competencies into the curriculum and offers technology classes that cover a wide range of technical disciplines including multimedia communications, computer programming, robotics, and computer literacy. We consistently upgrade the technology infrastructure to match current industry standards which includes our wireless network, operating systems, computer and server hardware, and classroom software.

The Walker School in Georgia has been the best decision for my child's education. The American curriculum has provided a strong foundation, and the teachers have been incredibly helpful and supportive. My child has made tremendous progress and I couldn't be happier with the quality of education provided.
