Licensed under the Ministry of Community Development, Widad offers an alternative educational program for children with learning difficulties that have had unsuccessful mainstream placements. We strongly believe that all children have the ability to learn, and we believe it is our duty as educators to modify the way we teach in order to meet the individual needs of each child.
Inclusive - We believe that every child has huge potential and it is our responsibility to identify these and help them continue to grow.
Love- Widad means love, friendship, unity, and family which is core to the work we do. With a compassionate approach, we believe that all children can become independent and achieve their unique goals.
Family - Our open-door policy ensures parents feel part of the Widad family. As a family, we approach every parent and child as if they are just that, one of us, and we go above and beyond to support them through their time at the center, and beyond.
Holistic/ Non-traditional/ Encompassing creative minds- With alternative strategies to learning, skills training, and modified teaching methods, we work through the essence of each child having a different learning style and pace.
Our educational approach is tailored to each individual child’s unique needs. We allow children to be children and create a fun and creative learning environment incorporating the use of all senses. Our work is incorporated into three primary strands: core curriculum education, therapy intervention, and creative and life skills in order to encourage independence, and help children achieve academic, social, and skill sets that they can apply in real-life.
Widad’s educational approach is influenced by US and UK standards, with all children receiving a unique assessment to establish their core learning style. Widad’s educational approach values the importance of appropriate academics, as well as overall development. It is focused on developing functional skills as well as pre-academic and academic skills, depending on each child’s needs and abilities. Our program also places a large emphasis on social development and in addition to the core subjects, pre-vocational skill building is encouraged.
Arts, crafts and music is integrated into daily lessons, to give students a more practical understanding of materials and concepts. Stories, songs, games and creative workshops, including painting and music, are utilized as theory-based tools for teaching and learning. Additional skill development areas include gardening, baking, woodwork, yoga and physical education.
We provide Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy as a full circle of intervention.
Observations are conducted over a period of time to assess the needs of a potential child enrolling. During this observation the Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Classroom Educator make recommendations based on the best and most appropriate type of therapy they require to aid in the progression of independence, social and communication skills and emotional and academic gains.
Nestled right in the heart of Dubai, we aim to be your child’s next ‘Home Away From Home’.
