Yokohama Christian School

Yokohama Christian School is a small Christian school nestled in the historical Bluff area of Yokohama. We seek to provide a strong, Christian education in a caring and loving environment where every child is valued as an individual child of God.

We serve a diverse population of learners from age 2 through grade 5 working together closely with parents to form a community that works toward a common goal of educating children. Our parent community is warm and welcoming, our teachers are loving and kind, and our students are observers, researchers, creative thinkers and artists.

Multiage classrooms are one of the special features of the YCS elementary program. In the Lower Elementary class, focus is placed on the building blocks of language arts and mathematics to develop strong interdisciplinary skills that students carry with them.

The 3- and 4-year-old class at YCS is the “Sprouts” class. Each year that the children are in the Sprouts class it is remarkable to see how they develop in language ability, social development, and academic preparedness.

Who we are

YCS is a proud community of: expatriate, multicultural, and local children and families. It is our desire to cultivate a school that serves the needs of current students, while continuing to improve for future students and maintaining close relationships with our alumni families.

At Yokohama Christian School, we believe that God is the source of all truth. We believe God created all people for a relationship with Himself and others. Our hope is that through this education, students will gain the ability to pursue a life of loving and obedient response to God.
