Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a, is a GEMS school created in 2005 as a single shift facility for boys of ‘Our Own English High School, Dubai’ which was established in Bastakiya in 1968. ‘Our Own’ Al Warqa’a shares the same vision, ethos and work culture that has given the parent school its laudable presence. ‘Our Own’ Al Warqa’a now has 4,700 students and 218 teachers.
The school is well-recognized for the quality of its academic achievements and the service it provides to students and parents. Our educational priorities are based on current trends that affect education globally, on the shared leadership and management agenda that is consciously emerging across GEMS schools.
The DSIB inspectors recognized these priorities in daily school life and have awarded our school an overall ‘GOOD’ for SEVEN consecutive years. The academic activities are administratively controlled by the Principal with the support of the Headmistress, the Middle and Senior School Head and Supervisors. The day to day working of the school rests on the shoulders of 200 competent and conscientious administrative and support staff.
Our ethos is centred on creating a stimulating and secure learning environment, which will develop our students’ lively, enquiring minds, and instil in them a positive and lifelong desire to learn.

Our students have continuously raised the bar in academic achievements over the years surpassing attainments of previous years. Over the years we have seen students secure perfect SAT scores and earn 100% scholarships in reputed Colleges world-wide thereby inspiring their juniors to dream, aim and strive high.
Today we celebrate students who are in the UAE Men’s Cricket Team, students who have secured respectable ranks in the world of Tennis, UAE champs in Badminton, Football, Chess and Basketball. Educational trip - Dubai Safari park. it was a great opportunity for grade 5 students to go to dubai safari park. There were lots of plants and animals . There was many places to explore . The explorer village had lots of animals and there was a guide to tell us all about the facts . We really enjoyed the bird kingdom . We saw many birds . It was actually a great place. We had many more places also and we explored a lot. Thank you for our school to give us the chance to go to safari park and make us enjoy a lot .

Today we had our 6J class assembly. The topic was 'World Kindness Day'. Kindness is a very important moral value that everyone should practice. I'm very glad that we got this topic as we could show others The Ripple effect of Kindness in a fun and interesting way. This assembly became even more special as today, November 13 is actually celebrated as 'World Kindness Day'. I'm really happy that the assembly went well and that everyone enjoyed it. I would also like to thank our supervisor- Sapna ma’am and our class teacher- Sonia ma'am for their efforts and support in this assembly.

our grade 5 trip to Dubai safari park was amazing! In the explorer village, we rode in a van and got to see animals like lions, giraffes and rhinos up close. our guide shared cool facts about each animal, which made it really fun to learn. i loved seeing the animals in a natural setting and understanding more about how to protect them. huge thanks to GEMS OUR OWN ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL for planning this incredible trip-it was a day i will never forget!

As a student at this school for over six years, my experience has been nothing short of wonderful. My kids are studying in GEMS OUR OWN ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL and as a parent I am happy with the teaching staff and would like to mention Suchitra Ma’am of grade 9B and Senior Supervisor Farah Ma’am who are always there to support & correct the kids and make necessary changes for the child’s well being. My daughter loved the Dubai Safari field trip.She says the field trip was amazing and that it created a bond between her and her friends.She saw a lot of animals like,bambaloons,tigers etc. Her favorite Village was the flamingo village she says she loved the flamingos and they were pretty.

OOD is one of the best schools in Dubai. The teachers and supervisors are excellent in grooming my child.
