Abu Dhabi, UAE: The winners of the Program Your Idea computer coding competition for Abu Dhabi pupils have been announced at an awards ceremony in the capital.
It took place at Ezzah Public School, where a team of judges spent Tuesday morning evaluating entries.
The competition, launched in April last year, was organised by Abu Dhabi Education Council and Injazat Data Systems.
“If we want our youth to become explorers, scientists, researchers, innovators and thinkers, they need to be exposed to as much innovation and creation as possible,” said Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, director general of ADEC.
The winners were split into four categories. Al Raqia School won Cycle 1 (Grades 1 to 5); Makka School claimed Cycle 2 (Grades 6 to 9); and Umm Al Emarat School won Cycle 3 (Grades 10 to 12).
The code-based open category, for any age, was won by Al Sarya School.
Legos, MacBooks and 3-D printers were among the prizes distributed to schools, teachers and students.
