Hewlett-Packard (HP) Middle East and the Ministry of Education (MoE) in Kuwait formally announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to underscore a long term commitment to developing the role of technology in education. HP and MoE will work together to advance teaching skills through professional development opportunities that will strengthen the integration of technology in schools, grades K-12.

Furthering its dedication to transform Kuwait into a knowledge based society, Antoine Barre, HP’s Vice President of HP Personal System Group MEMA, and Dr. Khaled Alrasheed, Kuwait MoE’s Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Information, will collaboratively develop common programs, share expertise and best practices in order to offer each student a higher level of education.

“HP and the Kuwait MoE recognize the imperative role of technology in delivering world-class education. HP PSG have partnered with MoE to ensure every student has access to the technological resources that are needed to thrive in today’s academic environment,” said Antoine Barre.

The signing of the agreement is driven by the need for technology education infrastructure in Kuwait and is designed to foster digital inclusion. The MoE will receive technology training, tailored curriculum development, access to the latest technologies and the ability to empower schools in Kuwait to raise the levels of ICT literacy. By enabling innovative teaching, HP aims to bridge the digital divide.

Commenting on the MoU, Dr. Khaled Alrasheed said, “The agreement with HP comes in line with improving the standard of education by enabling students in need with the necessary tools to improve their future and create greater opportunities for young people to fulfil their dreams. We value HP’s support as we take strides towards transforming Kuwait into a truly digital, knowledge based society.”

Under the MoU, HP will organize for experts to meet with MoE executives in order to discuss strategy and technology updates on a regular and consistent basis. HP will improve efficiency in the Ministry’s IT usage, such as client virtualization and provide continuous account management assistance to ensure regular contact and consultation between HP and the MoE.

HP being the world’s largest technology company brings together a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure to solve customer problems. HP creates new possibilities for technology to have a meaningful impact on people, businesses, governments and society.
