Addiction Education Program
For over twenty-five years McMaster has offered a comprehensive education in addiction studies to social service and health science professionals, and to those aspiring to begin a career in these fields. This is one of Canada's leading programs on addiction and substance abuse treatment.
Objectives of the Addiction Education Program
The Addiction Education programs were developed in partnership with the Faculty of Social Sciences to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for working with people with addictions of various types.
Courses are designed to help you
- Understand addictions and approaches to intervention, including assessment, treatment, relapse prevention, case management and self-help
- Develop or enhance individual and group counselling techniques
- Explore specific needs of individuals and groups including, women, youth, the elderly, adult children of alcoholics, people with concurrent disorders, and people with gambling problems.
