Doctor of Physiotherapy
Movement disorders are a leading cause of disability across the globe – aging, disease, environmental factors and sporting hazard can all take a toll on our bodies. Physiotherapists work with people of all ages and with a wide range of health conditions to prevent and treat musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions in order to maximise quality of life.
This course – the only three-year masters-level, professional-entry physiotherapy course in New South Wales – will develop your skills so that when you graduate you're able to effectively assess, diagnose, treat and educate people with movement disorders.
Are you committed to working as a physiotherapist and like communicating with people? If so, this postgraduate course will set you up for a fulfilling career whether you want to launch your own private practice, work in sports or rehabilitation physiotherapy, or in a hospital or community-based practice.
Currently, there is a very strong demand for physiotherapists across Australia and internationally. This demand is projected to increase over the coming decades.
You will be well prepared to pursue a career as a clinical physiotherapist in a range of settings; private and public hospitals, community settings including sports and private practice, research and advisory positions for industry and government.
Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.
Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.
Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
