Inquiry

The Graduate Diploma is a subset of the Master of International Relations program and allows students to undertake a program of multi-disciplinary, postgraduate study but it entails a lesser commitment than that required for the Masters program. Upon successful completion students may decide to proceed to the full masters program. This is a flexible and real-world focused degree that examines the power-political, economic, cultural, legal and institutional forces that influence relations between the major players in the international system.

Key Features

  • Explore fundamental issues such as the causes of war and peace, uneven development, and environmental degradation
  • Develop a deeper understanding of political, economic and social relations in particular regions and trouble spots such as the Middle East, Asia, EU, US and Africa
  • Access to leading academics in the fields of international relations theory, democratisation, human rights, globalisation, security studies, regionalisation, and global political economy
  • Coaching in academic and essay-writing skills is provided within the program, particularly for international students
  • Gain credit towards the degree and develop career opportunities by completing an international internship program designed for Masters students in approved institutions in Australia or overseas
  • Research project components may help prepare students seeking higher level tertiary study
  • Flexible program that enables those in full-time work to engage in further study via evening lectures and tutorials or online

Suitable for

Those with career aspirations in international organisations, aid and development through national and local governments, businesses with global connections, media and consultancy practice, diplomacy and advocacy.
