Inquiry

Chiropractors have the unique privilege of being able to positively impact people's lives through the provision of natural and non-invasive healthcare methods. They have a deep understanding of the body's structures and how each interact to affect our health. Using spinal adjustments, manipulation and other physical means to improve neuromusculoskeletal function, chiropractors can help us live healthy and active lives.

This rigorous course will prepare you for a rewarding career in one of the largest primary health professions. As a graduate, you'll be equipped with the full diagnostic and clinical management knowledge and skills you need to work in private practice, chiropractic sports medicine, allied health areas, health insurance assessment, medico-legal advising, work health and safety, rehabilitation and research.

Key Features

  • Successful completion of this course ensures you're eligible for registration in both Australia and New Zealand. You can undertake additional examinations to practice in other countries.
  • You'll undertake a year-long internship at one of Macquarie's chiropractic clinics.
  • You'll learn how to run a practice, operate X-ray equipment and practice spinal manipulation.

Suitable for

Students who want to practise as professional chiropractors, either in Australia or overseas. Prospective students who have a disability which could interfere with either observational or physical skills should contact the department for advice regarding suitability for this field of study.

In line with legal requirements, all students in their final year are required to provide a current Working with Children check, First Aid Certificate and National Criminal Record Check in order to participate in the Clinic Internship Units.

What You'll Study

Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.

Units

Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.

Entry Requirements

Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.
