Terrorism is becoming exceedingly complex. Changes to society and technology have increased our vulnerability to terrorist attacks, and have given unprecedented power to terrorists. To defend themselves, governments and businesses need analysts who have the knowledge, skills and creativity to understand the dynamic and complex systems that terrorists are leveraging. Specialists in counter terrorism are, therefore, in demand by the Australian Government, as well as by the private sector. This practice-oriented course will prepare you to analyse real-world counter terrorism challenges. You'll learn about the theory and practice of counter terrorism studies; the emerging domestic, regional and international challenges related to terrorism and their implications for counter terrorism approaches and policies; and the evolution of Australia's counter terrorism strategies and policies. It will also equip you with a practical skill set.

Units

Most postgraduate courses require a successfully completed Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution and may also require a specific grade point average (GPA). Our admissions team will determine whether your qualification meets the requirements.

English Langusge Requirements

All applicants for undegraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed:

  • Senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC
  • One year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification
