Inquiry

Cyber criminals and cyber terrorists pose a risk to everyone and every organisation. Cyber security is always in the spotlight, whether it's a story about data breaches or election hacking. Unfortunately, cybercrime isn't just limited to these areas. For example, technology has increased our vulnerability to terrorist attacks. Governments and businesses have an urgent need for staff with a broad range of skills and experience to tackle cybercrime as well as the knowledge, skills and creativity to understand the dynamic and complex systems that terrorists are leveraging.

We bring together perspectives in risk, IT, finance, law, governance, psychology, policing and security, providing you with a multidisciplinary skill set that will enable you to lead more effective responses to both cyber security and terrorism challenges.

Key Features

  • Simulated learning which reproduces the multidisciplinary expert panels that are frequently employed by government and industry in response to terrorism and cyber security threats will enable you to develop your technical skills.
  • You’ll benefit from Macquarie’s close partnerships in the security sector, for example the Optus Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub.
  • You can choose from three specialisations: Cyber Security Analysis, which focuses on policy, policing and strategic dimensions; Cyber Governance and Management, which examines the business and corporate dimensions of cyber security; or Internetworking, which will provide you with advanced technology and programming skills.

What You'll Study

Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.
