EFR (Secondary Care - First Aid)

To give students a basic understanding of First Aid and confidence in their ability to carry out Basic First Aid Procudres.

Objectives

• Assess both the situation and patient in the event of an incident.
• Define level, causes and management of an unconscious person.
• Be able to put patient in the recovery position.
• Understand the causes of breathing and heart difficulties.
• Be able to put patient in the recovery position.
• Understand the causes of breathing and heart difficulties.
• Be able to instigate E.A.IC on breathing problems.
• Be able to instigate C.P.R on circulation problems.
• Know how to use a resuscitator.
• Be aware of signs, symptoms and procedures of dealing with choking.
• Be aware of types of bleeding, internal and extenal and how to control them.
• Understand the symptoms and management of shock sufferers.
