Director - Computing Services Department

Leading a team of approximately 50 information technology professionals, the Director, Computing Services plays a strategic role in support of the University’s educational, technology and administrative goals. This seasoned leader will direct the operations and activities of all aspects of Computing Services at the University ensuring the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of 21st Century students and campuses. With the grand opening of the new, state of the art campus located in Abu Dhabi, there will be a continuing emphasis on building and enhancing the IT infrastructure and operations.

The Responsibilities

• Provide innovative IT resources and services in support of the University’s educational and administrative goals that employ leading edge, exemplary practices and maximize cost/productivity.
• Lead the development of technological approaches to academic and administrative support systems and on-going data management systems.
• Ensure the proactive support of students, staff, and faculty with regards to technological issues.
• Inspire, develop, and manage the technology staff to ensure high performance and using quality service techniques in order to provide timely and accurate IT systems and services at high levels of customer satisfaction. Attend and conduct a variety of meetings including staff, committee, and other meetings.
• Develop and prepare budgets; determine allocation of budget and staffing resources to obtain departmental goals.
• Assume overall responsibility for the technology aspect of the design, construction and commissioning of new campuses, buildings and other facilities.
• Liaise with an Educational Technology unit to provide advice and ensure that the technology infrastructure is in place that provides adequate resources to their efforts

Skills

• A Masters degree in related field required combined with ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in a Higher Education IT environment, including five years of management experience with a record of steady advancement in responsibility in a complex organization, preferably in higher education or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
• Experience in a multi-campus environment with both a centralized and partially decentralized organization structure.
