Welcome to the website of the Australian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. This site contains a broad range of information on the Embassy’s services in the United Arab Emirates and consular and passport services for Australians in Qatar. The information and links on this site are aimed at answering the most commonly asked questions about Australia. The site covers services for Australian citizens, as well as information on immigration, visas and citizenship.

The site also contains links to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australian Government websites. These links are designed to assist those looking for information on Trade, Australian culture or Government services. Australia and the UAE cooperate across a wide range of areas including trade, defence, security, aviation, education and health. You can find out more about the Australia-UAE relationship. We regularly review and update our website and would welcome feedback from visitors on how it can be improved.

The Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Australian Consulate-General in Dubai provide a range of Passport and Consular Services for Australians in the UAE by appointment only. See Services for Australians for information about these services and please contact us to make an appointment.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has a service delivery partner, VFS Global, that provides visa and citizenship lodgement services throughout nine Australian Visa Application Centres (AVACs) in the region. AVACs offer extended client service hours and you do not need an appointment with them. See Visas and Citizenship for more information. Please note that the Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consular and Passport Section of the Australian Consulate-General in Dubai are not able to assist with enquiries relating to visas, immigration or citizenship.

The Consular Services Charter outlines the consular services and assistance that are provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. There will be circumstances in which our ability to provide consular support may be limited. These circumstances are outlined in this document. The Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has consular responsibility for Australians in Abu Dhabi. The Australian Consulate-General in Dubai has consular responsibility for Australians in Dubai and the northern Emirates.

The Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate-General in Dubai can provide notarial services by appointment only. See our Legalising documents page for essential information on the services we can provide. Fees are applied for Notarial Services. Please note that in many cases, authorities in the UAE require Australian documents to be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia and the relevant UAE Embassy or Consulate in Australia before they can be accepted. You will need to confirm the requirements for your document with the UAE authorities before making an appointment for notarial services at the Australian Embassy or Consulate-General.

The Smartraveller website, provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade offers the latest travel advisories and other traveller hints, including specific travel advice for the UAE. Please subscribe to relevant travel advisories and bulletins on Smartraveller to ensure you receive an email notification each time they are updated. We encourage you to register your details with the Australian Government through Smartraveller. This will help us to contact you or your family in the event of an emergency.
