Australian Institute of Ultrasound (AIU), an ultrasound training facility which aims to consistently achieve a high standard in our education, customer service, facilitites and governance. We are constantly seeking innovation and improvement, by providing an environment where each student is able to leave having gained confidence as well as a greater understanding and knowledge of ultrasound.
At the Australian Institute of Ultrasound, we are proud of our diverse range of courses offered, large volunteer network and mastery approach to training. The core components of our mastery approach are:
The AIU operates from purpose-built premises that provide flexible facilities for groups. Our hands-on and theoretical training approach as well as our partnership with Toshiba and Sonosite ensure that we have the latest in advanced equipment and teaching methods. There's a lot happening at the AIU! Our program of continual improvement ensures that we revise, refined and update our programs regularly with new evidence based educational learning. This ongoing assessment is to meet the evolving nature of advancements in ultrasound technology and requirements of the health community.
Most of our courses offered here at the AIU have been approved as eligible education activities for the Australian Government’s Rural Practice Procedural Skills Grants for remote and rural General Practitioners. If you consider that you may be eligible for a grant, please check with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Our courses are accredited by a variety of colleges, Our policy is to provide an innovative approach to ultrasound education with an emphasis on hands-on practical training. We have recently introduced a number of new courses and now offer a diverse selection of ultrasound courses in a variety of areas. Almost all of our ultrasound training courses are accredited or carry CPD points.

Was lucky enough to be the trial belly for a new ultrasound machine. Not only were the staff amazing from the first phone call but the scan was unreal. Best explanation of what was happening and just an all round pleasant experience. Highly recommend.

Attended 2 day Vascular Access Ultrasound course. After discussion on course content on the first day - we realised that the course program for the second day would not enhance our practice or meet workplace needs. Jo and Kim discussed options for attending a tailored course to cover more specialised areas.
The first day of physics and skill enhancement was fantastic. Cathy our trainer was fabulous. Very skilled, patient and an excellent teacher.
The staff have gone above and beyond to ensure we get the most out of our course. Look forward to returning. Highly recommend for all.

Just completed the 5 day Point of Care Ultrasound course. The AIU provide excellent teaching in a friendly and relaxed learning environment. Was an amazing opportunity for loads of supervised scanning so you get personalised feedback on how to improve your technique and get better quality images. Thank you to the lovely staff for sharing all your tips and tricks, will definitely be recommending this course to my colleagues!
