Established in 1994, FBI began offering specialised courses in Fashion Business. Due to popular demand, a Fashion Design course was also added. Since then, the College has grown to offer a scope of 10 different course combinations of Fashion Business and Design.

FBI was founded as there was a noticeable gap in specific and relevant training to succeed in a career in the fashion industry. FBI introduced Australia’s first accredited Certificate IV and Diploma of Business specific to the Fashion Industry. Now having also introduced the Advanced Diploma of Fashion Business, exclusive to FBI and the first course of it’s kind internationally.

Longevity has meant that FBI has formed working relationships and industry connections across the globe and established a renowned reputation within the Australian fashion industry. Over the years the physical College has also expanded, taking over the historic Glebe post office building in 2011 to make room for a new Design Studio, student lounge and FBI Styling Studio.

Keeping with the fast-paced nature of the fashion industry, FBI continually adapts and evolves to better equip students. The courses reflect the landscape of the industry and are kept up-to-date with current technologies. This has meant adding E-commerce, Social Media for Fashion, Fashion Blogging and Creative Content modules over the past few years. The College has seen some of the Australian fashion industry’s most successful and hardworking Designers, Publicists, Stylists, Marketers and Buyers come through it’s iconic doors.

FBI Students benefit from premium facilities and training resources, ensuring that they are supported in their studies. Courses are delivered in a beautiful and iconic creative space, which is home to a community of likeminded and inspirational people. A professional standard styling studio is available for student hire. Students can use the space to build their styling portfolios, shoot collection lookbooks or build content for their blogs. The studio includes a fully-equipped camera, lighting, a beauty dish and backdrops.

The FBI Student Lounge is available for students to study and socialise. In the historic Glebe Post Office building, the lounge houses the FBI Resource Library which is stocked with up-to-date Fashion Magazines, textbooks and journals. The suite of Mac computers are equipped with the latest software specific for Fashion Business and Fashion Design.

FBI business classes are held on level two of the iconic FBI building in a light filled, fully equipped business studio. Our industry trainers engage with students using the studio space and presenting course content over a smartboard projector. Home to a suite of Mac computers, the Computer Studio is equipped with the latest software specific to Fashion Business and Fashion Design. Students are taught essential computer skills in an intimate class setting to learn and develop their use of software for a modern day Fashion Industry.

The spacious and light filled Design studios are fitted out with pattern making tables, domestic and industrial sewing machines and overlockers. Students are provided with materials, fabrics and textiles throughout the course. Chariot is an integrated FBI retail boutique located in the college and online. Launched in 2008 and a first of it’s kind in Australia, Chariot is an exclusive platform for FBI students to sell merchandise to the public.

I completed the Fashion Business Advanced Diploma course, and it truly provided me with an exciting learning experience in the fashion industry, equipping me with the vital knowledge and skills needed for a thriving career in fashion. One of my favorite aspects of FBI Fashion College is their Careers Agency. Laura, the Careers Coordinator, is exceptional—she not only connects both current and former students with numerous networking opportunities for internships and job prospects, but also offers amazing support throughout the entire process.
