UNE was formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. The University became fully independent in 1954 and pioneered teaching to external students by correspondence, making UNE Australia's most experienced provider of distance and now online education.
Our focus is on your future, providing you with a personal and flexible approach to learning. We offer more than 200 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree research levels with options to study online or on campus. The University of New England was the first Australian university established outside a capital city. With a history extending back to the 1920s, UNE has a well-earned reputation as one of Australia's great teaching, training and research universities.
Through its leading role in the provision of distance education, UNE has contributed to the nation's development over more than half a century — while enhancing the lives of thousands of people who would otherwise have been unable to pursue university studies. Today, UNE is extending its global reach through the adoption of the latest communication technologies, and is recognised as an innovator in flexible online education. More than 100,000 people have graduated from UNE, with many of them going on to hold senior positions around Australia — and abroad — in business, government, education, research, and community development.
The University of New England has a proud history of undertaking high quality research and producing valuable research outcomes. It is dedicated to identifying and delivering innovations of value to society and industry, in Australia and internationally, with a particular emphasis on inter-disciplinary research for tackling complex problems in rural and regional Australia. This research involves extensive engagement in large-scale interdisciplinary collaborations within UNE, nationally and internationally, and is underpinned by five thematic research priorities.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Great university. Only issue is that academic staff are so overloaded with work (you could employ more staff) that they are sometimes very hard to get in touch with. Other than that all good.

Having studied at many universities both in Australia and Overseas, the students services I experienced at UNE deserves five star rating from the time of enrollment until completion of my law degree. Many lecturers I had were students centric and had a great passion for what they taught and cared for students and a few unfortunately were ego centric. I don't think that can be completely avoided where ever one goes. Over and all , my experience at the faculty of law as an external student, and the efficient and friendly services I received from administrative staffs during my studies at the UNE is memorable and I am grateful. I highly recommend UNE law school for any prospective external students and their student services in my view are are exemplary. Thank you.

University administration and executives have no respect for students. I was so excited to go to UNE after high school, but left after a year and a half because I chose not to deal with the administration anymore. I now tell everyone not to attend this university. If you would like to be respected as a student do not attend UNE.

Studied my 2 year Master of Teaching (Secondary), 1 year Master of Arts and now going to start my Phd in 2016, all via distance education. Based on my experience, UNE are the leaders in distance education with plenty of support via forum discussions, unit resources and knowledgeable teachers.

I have been studying off campus for the past three years. UNE does a great job with distance delivery of lectures. I have found the Moodle sites great - the lecturers usually respond to my questions (and I have plenty) in a timely manner. Assignments are marked quickly.
